Hi guys!

I'm looking forward to buy a new printer but first I'd like to know your opinion on what would be the best matching non-oem ink and printer brands in terms of colour accuracy to use with refillable cartridges.

Thank you!

I have good experience with Brother inkjet printers and compatible cartridges... CISS as well!
The printer itself is not expensive and the cartridges as fine as well! But that's here in US...

Where you are located is important in answering the questions you've asked. I'm in the US so I don't know about what is available in Asia, and there are participants on this forum who live in various parts of the UK and Europe.

My experience is with Canon printers and Image Specialist inks, which are sold by Precision Colors and MIS for US consumption and Octoinks which is located in the UK. The best cartridges to refill are the original OEM Canon carts. Stay away from the printers that have three colors of inks in the same cartridge. Go for the printers that have separate color inks per cartridge. Get advice from participants on this forum regarding which of the Canon printers have cartridges that either have no chips on them or have chips that can be reset with an available resetter.

I've had excellent results with ink from InkSupply.com (MIS supply) with my Canon printer and with HP's, Lexmarks, and older Canons. My current printer uses PGI5 and CLI8 cartridges and they also have some decent refillable carts with auto reset chips.

Thank you guys for the feedback! Sorry I forgot to mention I live in Europe, more specifically Portugal. I really don't mind buying the ink from the internet, and I'm not looking to buy an expensive printer because it won't be for intensive use. It may even have big stand by periods (months), but I happen to like photography and may go on a printing streak from time to time. I'd like to have the option to print good quality photos from my own house without the need to ask a bank loan.

I looked at these three options:

Refillable Ink Cartridge Kit for Brother MFC-J630W LC39 LC985 975 DCP-J125 J315W
NoNoEM Refillable Cartridges KIT for Epson SX235W SX420W SX425W SX435W SX445W
Refillable cartridges for Canon PGI-525 CLI-526 MG5350

I heard that Canon have many compatibility issues and that Epson spends a lot on cleaning heads. On the other hand Canon has excellent image quality and Epson uses the piezo system wich tends to prolong the life of the head but can clog more easily. I'm kinda turned into brother right now IF there is some good non oem ink for it AND the photo quality print is at least somewhat decent.

Thank you all for taking the time to help me. Cheers!

I have yet to find an ink for my Brother MFC-440CN and Canon MX870 that looks similar to respective oem inks.

My Brother printer lived (still alive!) 6-7 with cheap ink and refillable cartridges. Color match was a disaster.
Now I ordered OCP ink from germany but keep my fingers crossed as...

My Canon has about 1,5y old and I refill original cartridges with Inktec inks - only problem is a cyan color cast even on normal paper. This makes the printer unusable for copies and fast/simple photo printing (for my family using SD card, for instance). With proper profile, correct color reproduction is very good. With normal paper, a -25 correction in RED-CYAN bar makes it perfect.

But now I ordered from Octoink Image Specialists inks and got a strong green cast.
Martin is working on that but my faith in good/reasonable color reproduction is fading faster than cheap inks in UV light :)

I must have a spell on me
Regarding printers, I much prefer Brother for its versatility (I can live a full year without refilling!!) as my Canon requests this much more often (sometimes on same day!) but both are easy to refill. Canon has an edge on photo printing but that could be irrelevant depending on each other eyes. I could live (very well) with Brother photo quality.

Nice analogy :)

Personally I'd go with "Fade faster than a first time parent with a newborn" ;)

I've emailed you back on that so we should find a solution to the problem...

Been there.... first three months was a mother's job but before I knew daddy was ALWAYS requested while mother made her beauty sleep.

To community: I forgot to mention earlier SquEasyFill refill system are sent from Heaven, not UK as we are lead to believe :) . Considering how often I sometimes have to refill (when crazy arrives town) this refill system frees my bathroom from drying out syringes and needles. Awesome!
Suddenly, often refilling Canon cartridges is not much of a problem anymore.
