Best ICC profile for better color reproduction on canon p200 running a third party ink.

Hi every, I'm Obt. I'm new here. I own a canon p200 and I print photo books with it. As we all know the OEM inks that come with it won't last and so I bought a set of third party inks from Ink products, an American company. I ordered it together with the printer on Amazon.

After fixing the third party ink I quickly realized that the color reproduction isn't as good as the canon ink. I've tried different ICC profiles but I'm still not getting it right.

I could really use some help. If anyone has any profiles that's worked well for them and they'd be kind to share.

Also I'd appreciate if I could get info on any type of third party inks that are good enough for the job. I'm in Ghana, west Africa and so shipping in from canon on cartridges would kill me, we don't get things cheap out here. Many thanks.

I think the ink you purchased should be good enough to get a comparable reproduction like the OEM ink.

However, for a good and controllable color reproduction you need to create your own profiles, or have them made for you. In this case, it is because your third party ink is slightly different from the OEM ink.

Regarding printer profiles, there are four major factors that play a role in what is reproduced.
The printing software & settings, the specific printer, the ink and the paper.

Every time one of these factors would change, you would need a new profile. If you do it right, you'll have consistent reproduction with many different inks and papers. That also means you will have inaccurate reproduction when printing with profiles made for a different combination.

If you plan to use just one set of ink, with just one type of paper, you could find someone to make one profile for you to use with that set. Because you'll only need to print and mail out some pieces of paper, I think you could send that across a continent fairly affordable.
