any good ways to stop leaking?

Hi all,iv got a lexmark no.1 cartridge and i sent it to my nan but wen she received it,it had leaked i also sent it with blue tape (static tape) over the head and it still leaked is there any way to stop these cartridges from leaking or any way of stopping any cartridge from leaking as this is a big problem for me,some people say ad alcohol before appling tape can any 1 give me some help on this as this is costing me money now and becoming a big problem there got to be some way to stop it.I even brought travel clips and it still leaked is there any thing i should do to the cartridge before applying the head tape or travel clip,if some 1 could tell me the way they do theres?.Any information on this will be very appreciated as this is a big problem for me thanks in advance john
