We are printing about 100 pages per day, mostly photos and student artwork, but use inexpensive paper and don't need photo-quality. Currently using R280, and while it is not bad and served us well for a couple of years, there is more maintenance than I would like with CISS, occasional streaking...
We have a Xerox Phaser 8560 and even with ebay inks we were spending about $200/month on ink. With inkjet inks it is more like $15/month.
My guess is 1000 pages/month

@milkling: I started with inkjetcarts.us ciss and inks (which are supposedly IS inks), and now I'm using inks I bought from you.
The main problem is that every day some nozzles will skip, and it comes and goes, and it is a hassle to work around it, especially since user printing is likely to...
Long time canon and epson refiller, but for personal use only. Looking for a hassle-free solution for elementary school. Currently using Epson R280 with CISS, but nozzles often get blocked or catch an air bubble or whatever, dribbles a bit of ink sometimes, needs bottles moved up/down to keep...
To add a small bit of info...
Inkjetfly suggests IMA6 inkset on 6-color Epsons.
Looking at inkjetfly profiles on Kirkland glossy using IMA6 w/ V3 PK, volume of gamut is 716649 colorspace units, and with IMA24/36 V3 there is 630044. Visually eyeballing the graphs, most of the difference is that...
Are you using V3 pigment inks (they list both V1 and V3 for R3000)?
By no bronzing, do you mean just black ink not looking bronze colored when viewed from an angle, or do you mean there is no significant difference in gloss between ink and paper?
Thanks.
Just found this on ink republic's site and it seems they are using the same or similar system as inkjetcarts.us:

I work at an elementary school and I'd like to replace our expensive color laser printer with an inkjet + CISS. Mostly printing throw-away artwork and such from kids and teachers. I'm thinking about getting a slightly used 1400 or R280 or similar. Would appreciate a suggestion for a dye-based...
I decided (mostly just because I like to tinker) to switch to pigment inks on my Epson 1400. I print only about 20-30 photos/month. I like to use Kirkland glossy paper for messing about because it is great value, so performance on glossy paper is important. I play with a variety of matte papers...
I'm looking for a paper in 24-30lbs range that can print decent business graphics or kids artwork. Most papers that one can buy for $8/500 seem to be uncoated, and coated bond papers from Canon or Epson are very expensive... Any suggestions for paper under 10c/sheet?
mikling,
What are your plans for selling Klariah? I don't see it on your website.
It is simply mix of Precision Colors K4 pigments in certain proportions to eliminate color cast that is apparent when using K4 directly or is there more to it?
Hi,
I have been refilling both Canon and Epson entry level printers at home for a few years, but I have no experience with CISS. As IT Manager at an elementary school, I always try to do things cost-effectively, and our solid-ink Phaser printer is fairly expensive to run, although generally...
I am getting very slight vertical banding repeating every 1/2 inch or so only on "light magenta" pattern print (the fake light magenta, since it only has 1 magenta). It is very slight, and running printhead cleaning as well as auto and manual head alignment is not changing anything. It looks a...
I've been using pigment inks (Image Specialists) in my Epson R280 since it was new, but could never quite produce perfect ICC profiles to dial out enormous cyan cast Epson drivers give when using pigment inks on this printer. I just ordered dye inks from Precision Colors, but I am not sure how...
I did not really soak the prints, I just ran them under the tap for 30 seconds or so. I think at this point it is clear that I didn't switch black inks, and that gloss differential problem I observed comes from cyan. Presumably it is a question of over-saturation and cyan floating on top of...
Thanks for the replies. It looks like I did not switch black inks. I printed nozzle check page on plain and glossy, and soaked both in water after 4 hours of drying.
On plain paper, pigment black was unaffected, while dye ink smeared. On glossy, pigment black came off with slight rub, and...
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out if I accidentally filled photo black cartridge with pigment black ink. Does Canon iP4300 use any pigment ink at all when printing photos on photo paper? I am seeing some bronzing in near blacks, so some pigment ink is obviously present. But, when I print test page...
