Looking for advice/help on my senior design project

You might want to look at Xerox Phaser solid ink printers. They use blocks of ink which is heated and fused to the paper, so the system seems a bit like a hot-melt glue + offset printing scheme: http://www.office.xerox.com/solid-ink/solid-ink-sticks/enus.html Using any type of adhesive...

    Banding issue

Was this printed in draft mode? Sometimes draft mode will show more banding in solid areas, and magnify any ink-starvation/paper-feed/head clog issues that may normally go unnoticed, even in nozzle-check test prints.

What foldable paper is best for printing medical x-rays?

Office Depot sells HP "Presentation Paper". It's somewhere between between standard inkjet paper and matte photopaper. It's coated and double-sided and relatively economical. Canon "High Resolution Paper" produces better prints, but it's not double sided and can be harder to find...

ultra sonic jewellery cleaners for Canon print head cleaning

Smile, you could probably get more pure pressure through a syringe, but the Waterpik puts out a fairly large volume of water in pulses. It's like a little pressure washer. There's a video on their website here: http://www.waterpik.com/oral-health-products/ A little past halfway they show...

ultra sonic jewellery cleaners for Canon print head cleaning

I've never used a ultrasonic cleaner, but I've used a waterpik ("dental irrigator" device designed to blast water between your teeth) with good results on my IP6700D. You use it on the intake ports/screen part of the head. Given the crickets my post got, I'm apparently the only one, but hey...

    Canon chip resetter (CLI-8 / PGI-5)

It looks to me like this resets six CLI-8's (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta) plus PGI-5 Black. The shipping is a bit painful to the Americas, but for under $100 total it's not too bad if it actually works reliably. There are actually different resetters depending upon...

The ultimate removing agent for dye stains and nontoxic !!!

My favorite method of removing ink stains from hands is rubbing a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on them. Takes them right off, even though it says on the box not to use on skin. It's a (microfine) abrasive and it could cause irritation, so use at you own risk. I use MIS inks, which probably clogs...

Printing on plastic - non glossy?

Are you stuck with one specific type of plastic to print on? There's certain materials you're never going to get ink to stick to no matter what you do. A color laser printer might do better bonding printing to plastic, but running mystery plastic through a laser printer might not be so good...

New method to clean print heads?

Bertil, I don't what they're called outside of the U.S. You can see from fish's link what it is. The important thing here is that it puts out a thin, fairly high powered pulse of water. I can't readily think of anything that would substitute for it in this case. While I'm a fan of purging...

New method to clean print heads?

I refill with MIS inks and had to replace a Canon iP6700D printhead about a year ago because of ink-starvation problems in the black nozzles. This is separate from plain old clogged nozzles, because an ink-starved head puts out progressively less ink the more it's used until it becomes useless...

    Some Canon troubleshooting tips

Trigger: I have an ip6700D, and refill the carts without major problems, although once it started giving me an "out an ink" warning and wouldn't continue printing even when I'd hit the Stop/Reset button. Once it did this, and for some reason I hit the "OK" button and it continued printing and...

So Many Digital Photos... How Do You Organize Them?

Not exactly a swift response, but I use FastStone Image Viewer: http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm It will copy files from a memory card into sorted folders, plus a whole lot more. It's fast, has tons of useful features, and can deal with thousands of images without choking. It's...

I'm Just Giving Up On My Canon

I noticed this a month ago. Our Office Depot had recently undergone a complete remodeling, and the special counter where they sold ink and toner is gone. Now the refill carts are all hanging on pegs in a regular aisle, and you know what? I couldn't find a single refill for Canon inkjets...
