    Document Text double prints

Posting a couple of scans of problem. I've been using Precision Colors dye black in the PGBK 250XL cartridge for over a year. I've talked about this in previous posts. Tried printing text using a Photo Paper setting but got same result you see in the attachment. What is the logic assay board...

    Document Text double prints

Document text is printing double about every 2-4 lines. Nozzel checks show the Canon PGBK vertical grid lines start solid at the top then split in two then come back together near the bottom. All of the rest of the colors (5) are good. This is a Canon Pixma ip8720. I've changed the print head...

    Nozzel check

I have replaced the PC photo black cartridge with a new one from LD and several nozzel checks have confirmed that the PC cart was the culprit. All colors and blacks and grays are solid bars. I intend to flush the PC cart and at some point reinsert to check it. Thanks all for your help and...

    Nozzel check

Thanks. My printer is Canon ip8720 w/6 cartridges; C,M,Y,G,B,TEXT B. Printer is about 2 yrs old. Changed the print head (OEM) last year. All carts are compatible - colors and G are from LD in Cal. not refillable but replaced when dry. The 2 black carts are Precision Colors; 0ne is regular size...

    Nozzel check

When I ran a nozzel check today the black ink band was blank. Cartridge is about 3/4 full. I ran a few cleanings and one deep cleaning - no luck. This is a Precision Colors cart. which I've been filling myself. Am I in for a cart. flush or a print head flush?

    Authenticating OEM Printhead

I neglected to mention that I'm interested in a Canon QY6-0083-000 printhead for an ip8720. I found and ordered one from inkjetprinthead store on ebay. About $98.00. Free shipping by the way. He has about 3-4 more left of that model. None left of QY6-0080-000.

    Authenticating OEM Printhead

It's funny - I had ran across inkjetprinthead yesterday but seemed TOO authentic to trust. Thanks - I will order one.:thumbsup

    Authenticating OEM Printhead

Thanks SkedAddled for your tips. There are many who do just show the box and specify "no returns". Would you be willing to provide the ebay seller's name/store? My email if you'd rather go that route - .... Edited:...Moderator... Use the PM to display your Email address... ;)

    Authenticating OEM Printhead

Is there a way to be sure that a Canon printhead advertised on ebay or elsewhere for about $100 is genuinely Canon especially if the item is coming from Japan? The OEMs are probably made there anyway.

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

The PrecisionColors PGI-250 cartridge I'm filling w/PC25X-BK dye ink DOES have a sponge. The cartridge is clear and I can see the sponge as well as the clear reservoir enabling me to monitor the progress of the filling. The complicated technology of printers, print heads, cartridges, etc is...

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

Yes, I'm printing continuous tone subject matter. Mostly people on the street, in subways. Some silhouettes but otherwise deep shadows, people wearing dark coats, etc. But with the pigment text black in the PGI-250 cartridge I was only able to get a dark gray in the darkest areas. The rest of...

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

To all who are re-filling cartridges from Precision Colors; How many re-fillings of my PGI-250 cartridge can I expect before it malfunctions, wears out or just plain needs replaced? Or do they last indefinitely? I'm not sure if PC will sell me just one cartridge and I'll be pissed if I have to...

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

I'm happy to report success. As of this date I've re-filled the PGI-250 cartridge about 5-6 times with PrecisionColors PC25X-BK photo black dye ink while printing about 100 13x19 b&w sheets of Canon Pro Premium Matte. And countless 4x6 test prints. Almost every print contains large areas of...

Drying time for black and white prints

Yes thank you but up to now I haven't thought about lamination. I'm using Canon Pro Premium Matte PM 101 paper and OEM dye ink. I've read that the solvent takes a while to evap. and that's why I'm not stacking for at least a day - just air drying.

Drying time for black and white prints

I searched for this topic to no avail so ..... I'm aware of opinions/facts that suggest at least 24 hours drying time for most prints. How about for 13x19 b&w matte prints using dye inks. My b&w prints consist of large areas of pure black. I have been laying them out to dry for a day or so and...

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

Right now printing b&w on Canon Matte using gray scale/plain paper settings (Re; https://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/should-i-spring-for-a-new-printhead.12599/) which uses mainly the pigment ink cart to avoid color tints viewed by various light sources. Problem with matte paper is weak...

Dye ink in a Pigment Cart

If I were to fill a new PrecisionColors PGI-250BK cartridge meant for pigment ink with their PC25X-BK photo black dye ink, what problems, if any, could I expect? Would the print head accept this change-up?

Should I spring for a new printhead?

I checked around a little and did not find any PGI-250XL carts filled w/dye ink.All pigment. Also the OEM Canon carts I have now are not the refillable kind. Thanks Canon! So I can order a a kit from PrecisionColors which includes their own designed set of Canon ip8720 carts for refilling with...
