IP4300 sludge looking paste left on ink pad under print head

After a year of light use (around 1600 copies) printing mostly text documents and the rest web pages (little pictures/photos), I discovered a black 'sludge sitting on top of the larger black pad. It was causing streaking of the non pigment black showing up in non text (pictures within the page)...

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Ok on the ink stored in the printer, it was just a thought. Understood about Canon, HP & Epson heads. I ruled out Epson for that reason, it was never on my list. ;)

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Yes, dye prints fad, that is mostly well known (to anyone that has had any experience in printing), but for printing other than photos, that is really a moot point. ;) But , since you brought that up, having that much ink in the printer if you don't do really heavy printing, is that a problem...

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

According to this page; there are only three heads that include all colors; https://store.hp.com/us/en/mlp/ink--toner---paper/printheads The 713, 746 & the 711 (higher price). The two other I don't consider a option to replace due to cost (over $300)

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Are there any printers that really give anyone much for the money? That should get one thru about a week of printing. I wonder how many after finding out how bad those are, buy that manufactures printer again?? That's somewhat good news that most have carts only. The question remains...

    Three cheers for Piezoflush!

Ok, I wasn't sure what you were pointing to. Wasn't Epson all pigmented?

That just takes me to what looks like their home page.

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Thanks for the reply, but just a list of carts doesn't really tell me anything. Actually it makes thing more confusing. Am I to assume all of those "cartridges" are tanks only with no printhead??

    Three cheers for Piezoflush!

Aren't all Epson inks pigment, as opposed to Canon being dyes for colors & pigment for text for most of their printers? Then it would make sense to use Epson's formula, right?

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Separate question; does HP does have some models with a fixed (non-replaceable) printhead like Epson?

Are all HP inkjets still using the integrated tank/printhead design?

Somehow I was under the impression that HP switched from their combined ink tank/printhead to separate carts & separate printheads. Or are they all still an integrated tank/printhead? If so, is this combo a single printhead with all 4 tanks together, or how many colors (including black) they...

    Can a qy6-0061 printhead be used in a iP5200?

I got the 5200 that you mentioned mixed up with the 4500. Thar's why I stated what I did in my last post that something didn't seem right. :( Too many similar model numbers.

    Can a qy6-0061 printhead be used in a iP5200?

Thanks for the input Pete, From those reviews, there is suppose to be something around 1k more nozzles in the 67 over the 61. Nothing about specific colors. In some of the ads I noticed the test nozzle printouts are different and more complex from the 4300 to the 4500 which came out a year...

    Can a qy6-0061 printhead be used in a iP5200?

A iP4300 uses a qy6-0061 printhead. I believe I read a -067 PH is for for a iP5200. But, I see dozens of listings (not just e-bay) for a 0061 PH for both a iP4300 & a iP5200. Can qy6-0061 be used in a iP5200? According to a couple of older reviews, the nozzle count is greater in the 67 than...

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

I'm the jerk? Why, because I didn't throw the printer out the window? o_O I didn't ignore anyone. And no, I didn't know the "score" as you put it since as I stated, I wasn't aware of this error being a this big of a issue.

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

A little juvenile isn't it? Something Dictator Trump would do or say. I wished he would of hit his car which he would of deserved! As to the "ultrasound", I wouldn't even think of it. FWIW, I placed one of my two spare 4300's in service with a 'preserved', used printhead installed. Not...

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

I don't believe in giving up easily. It doesn't hurt to explore all possibilities, There is nothing to loose and everything to gain by at least the added experience. A few more hours makes a learning experience, which is worth it even if the problem isn't fixed. I'm not suggesting days, just a...

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

Anyway, based on this situation, the fact the unit is 'locked' for a possible bad printhead and I can't do a reset (remove power for 10 minutes) or enter the service mode, assuming after I remove the printhead, if the machine does power up normally and the carriage moves as it would with no...

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

Pete, You are preaching to the choir. I found some of that out over two years ago and discovered the rest two+ months ago with this iP4300. After two years of flawless prints got the dreaded 5 flashing orange error. I purchased two spare heads when I purchased the used 4300 thinking they were...

    Canon iP4300 10x flashing green-orange, B200 error code

I haven't opened it up yet, but can the carts & PH be removed without turning that wheel to unlock the park position and sliding the carriage out to the middle of the printer? Also, does this scenario point to the logic board being the culprit as in 'it's toast'?
