It fails "as designed"??? How can you design something to fail? What do you mean by this?
Also, although I print a lot, there is often a span of time between them that I don't print much. I usually do a 3-day print run, then don't print anything for maybe a week or so, or just use black ink...
Yes, this is for Asia. I noticed that a lot of carts "look" the same but are different on the chip area (and some sort of "idiot-proof" plastic tabs perhaps to prevent inserting the carts in a different slot), and on the "lock" area, but the general shape (and perhaps the dimension) are the same.
There's something that reads "ink droplets can be placed with a pitch of 1/4800 inch at minimum" --- so I guess it's "so the dots don't overlap" rather than the spacing on the printhead.
If a "dot" can contain 2 or 4 pl of ink, then what's the difference between a 5760dpi 4pl dot and a 4800dpi...
Thanks again for the reply. Really appreciate the feedback.
Regarding refilling ink carts, I guess taking the cover off is of no danger to the cart since there is a sponge inside. I'm glad they went the "sponge" way, not the bladder way of most HP integrated-printheads which you have to suck...
I'm looking at two printers, let's call them A and B. Printer A prints at 5760dpi but at 4pl, while printer B prints at a lower 4800dpi but at 2pl. How can printer A print at a higher dpi with bigger pl? What does pl mean? I always thought dpi was the way to "measure" how fine a printer can...
Thanks for the positive response, headphonesman. I'm choosing between a Canon or an Epson printer, and this is a good sign for the Canon iP1200 I'm considering.
A few more questions: regarding chipped carts, is there no way to reset them? Or wasn't there a certain "memory" that you can...
Seeing as this is a 2-month old post and there seems to be no sign yet of having to replace the print cartridge, I'm optimistic on getting a Canon iP1200. headphonesman, how many times have you refilled your carts so far? Also, can you confirm that CL40/41 tanks are chipped?
Okay, I now feel stupid. Been typing and seems that I've confused "dye" with "pigment" inks. I CAN get dye, it's pigment inks that are not available here. Ooohhh....
Now Canon iP1200 seems to be back in the race. That's a good thing, since I like the idea of a head-in-the-cartridge thing...
Thread digging here, but after a few months of using dye ink on the pigment-black BCI-24, so far my black printhead still prints good. I wish I could say the same for my colored printheads.
The printer does print out a very black "black" and sometimes it looks very wet. I've had to tone down...
Anybody? Nobody? Osage? Nifty? Grandad? Hmm...
Anyways, been to the computer stores and seems like everybody's stocking iP1200 the way they stocked iP1000s a few months ago. Canon iP1200 and Epson C45 are the "most common" printers available, with an Epson C67 at half the price of a Canon...
6 months after I posted here looking for a new printer and asking for advice, I'm here again, seeking help with a few questions. I've gone and bought a Canon Pixma iP1000 last February, and it just quit on me a week or so ago. No worries, I've run it through its paces and beyond -- it still...
Here's a page I printed before the ink problems:
Here's the same page printed with problems:
And this is the test page I get from the printer's control panel:
Apparently, the clogs seem to be from the M and Y ports.
I want to take apart my IP1000 to see (and solve) a waste tank full problem. Anybody know where I can get a manual on how to take this apart and safely putting it back together again? Thanks!
Is ammonia and "spirit of ammonia" (the one they use to revive people who have collapsed due to heat stroke, faint, etc.) the same?
All I could get is spirit of ammonia, and have tried the 100% 1-hour soak, and my test page on my Pixma IP1000 still shows streaks (very fine horizontal streaks)...
This process is confusing. When I turn on the printer, the LED is green, but then shifts to orange-green-orange-green. It does not change color to orange only or green only as the instructions seem to point out.
However, these fixes seem to be only temporary. After PC reboot, I always have...
Your procedure differs from mine only in the fact that you don't suggest opening the printer door/cover. Both procedures seem to work on resetting the printer.
However, I still get the waste tank full warning everytime I use the printer for the first time after rebooting the PC. Is there a...
Hello guys!
Can anyone tell me how to reset the IP1000's waste ink warning? From searching, I found out that I can use my printer by:
1. Turn off printer, unplug
2. Open door, hold power button
3. Plug printer
4. Close door, release power button
However, it seems that everytime I turn on...
I really feel dumb... no wonder there was a difference in the quality of OEM black versus my refilled black. Seems taht the BCI-24 blk is pigmented (so says the Canon brochure), but the store sells me dye ink, and I use it like a dumbass....
What effects will dye ink have on nozzles designed...
