Having some time I managed to enhance my 165 patch simple target with 1 extra row + 1 extra column to get 192 patches, still within the boundaries of a 10x15 cm photo card:
The improvement -I have made- is about more sampling of the gray ramp (15 instead of 10) and more near neutral patches...
Many thanks for the comparison: Actually the Spyderprint High Quality target with only 225 patches seems to produce already very good profiles. Like my 165 patch target both targets are based on RGB 5x5x5=125 patches in the RGB color cube space and extra patches up to 165 or 225 patches. The 225...
Inspired by @Ink stained Fingers I generated a small 165 patch target that can be printed on a small 10x15 cm/4x6 inch photo card and with some modifying the grey and near neutral patches in the patch editor in i1Profiler to obtain an optimum patch distribution in the RGB color space I could...
Did you see the print head has 2 x 5 rows on the left and the right of nozzles: this mean the same print head is probably also used for the 10 channel Pro-9500. I remembered the nozzle check on the i9950 consisted of 2 rows: one row with CMY and the other with PC/PM/Y/G/R....so actually the...
I could finally could hold of imatch 3.6.2 that can be downloaded and did work with my i1Pro1. The nicest thing was the ability to use the scanner profiling using the included target chart that must be scanned with the i1Pro1 spectro and saved and scanned with the scanner and based on both...
I think the Colormunki/i1Studio/Calibrite method using the 50 + 50 patch method is actually based on these findings. The difference is the measurement of the first patch set of 50 gives a good idea how the curvature of the RGB-model will be and calculates the estimated end colour, what should be...
The scanning table is the same as my i1Pro2, but it is indeed that transparant scanning guide with the black slider I am looking for. the link you gave me I have found myself, but it is no longer available, so I think second hand will be the choice for me.
The only thing I do not like is the scanning guide that seems to be very basic.....I discovered the i1Pro can damage the printed patches during the scanning process.
But there seems to be a better version of this scanning guide in the later versions and I am looking for a good second hand...
Many thanks @crenedecotret . I did my part of the job and manipulated the target to fit exactly on a single sheet of A4 and optimized for the i1Pro2 scanning table.
Unfortunately I can only get hold of an older version of i1Profiler (1.7.1), so looking for the 3.1.1 version. I tested with ArgyllCMS and it worked perfectly. compared to the i1Pro2 with the same target the profile volume is similar using ArgyllCMS so the HP eye-one seems to function properly.
Today I received a vintage HP/GretabMacbeth Eye-One Pro, that was still sealed and included a CD-ROM with the older iMatch software.
I will try to install the old software that probably will only work in 32-bit Windows versions, otherwise ArgyllCMS is the way to go ;)
Not sure what is causing this, but I believe the Epson Matte Paper setting (quality: standard), gives a better black level compared to the Velvet Fine Art setting:
Blue wired frame: Velvet Fine Art, quality: standard
Red Wired frame: Epson Matte Paper, quality: standard
Epson ET-8550, paper...
I also have a simpler 700 patch target that has less gray steps, but more colour patches based on RGB: 8x8x8 similar to the target of @Ink stained Fingers that uses 720 patches. The previous target of 702 has RGB: 7x7x7, but more gray and near gray ramps.
To be printed on A4: borderless...
This is something for matte papers. I ordered several packages of Brilliant matte paper (the one that Keith Cooper has recently tested) and I will make a profile for the VFA-setting. If anyone is interested I can share it.
Many thanks for the update. Good to know that there is hardly any difference. However: the ET-8550 has gray ink: this might influence the game of grey printing....One could ask if it would be a greater difference when using the BW enhanced target with a printer that has NO gray ink and is...
