Mikling, don't talk to me about the profiling disease and hi-fi! Even back when I had an Epson 1200 I spent untold reams of paper trying to get a perfect result. I gave up and wasn't satisfied. In the case of this Pro9000 I've gotten close (I'll explain in a bit), and with Pharmacist's...
Here's mine. The purpley image is as it appears in Photoshop Soft Proof, which looks very much like the printed color. This is with a profile created from the 729 patch targets in Spyder3Print SR. The samples were all checked to insure they were properly captured before creating the profile...
I ask because I am quite surprised by what I'm seeing. I'm using Epson Photo Paper and tried a couple of supplied profiles, but more importantly a profile I created myself with my Spyder3Print SR. In all cases normal photos - random content with a range of tones - look fine. Certainly they look...
Thanks Grandad35. The dpreview thread seems mostly to be about either tool for its monitor profiling capability. On the B&H website there was one review from someone who actually used both as a printer profiling tool and in this case the user claimed "Between this and the Colormunki, i choose...
Anybody have firsthand exeprience on these two? Wondering which system is capable (taking into account using it properly and understanding color management) of producing more reliable printer profiles.
Hmm, the Canon USA site does not make that sort of clear distinction. It says "Eye-One series including Eye-One Pro". Kind of makes it sound a little like other Eye-One models might work. Or maybe not.
Grandad35, do you know anything about the Canon Color Management Tool Pro software which is offered for free on their website? It seems to be made for an Eye-One Display 2 device. Not a spectrophotometer to be sure, but I wonder if it would be better than a scanner?
Now this is a great idea! A question though: is there an effective way of flushing the remains of the ink currently being used so as not to contaminate the other?
As to the Epson 1400, I seriously considered it but in my own case after 10 or so years using Epson printers I just got tired of the...
Pharmacist, there is some truth to this. I'd found the Cone inks to have a bit less gamut but I liked the way it produced prints. And yes, Lyson is considered another source of very high quality inks. An online search of Lyson and ConeColor will yield evidence of battles on the same order of LCD...
I agree, Marceltho. In my case, while new to this forum, I've been printing in a color managed workflow for many years. Since moving to a Canon Pro9000 Mk.II I've found this site as a means to learn how to make best use of this new printer. I don't sell my work, but as an enthusiast photographer...
In the Canon Pro9000 dropdown for paper selections. I placed the ICM file in \Win\System32\Spool\Driver\Color and right-clicked, selected Install. That's all I used to do in the old days using Epson printers, but in this case the paper is still not showing up in the Canon paper dropdown list...
Marceltho, thank you! The work that Grandad and the others did here is really quite something. I was interested in seeing that the old Epson Glossy Photo appears to be pretty good with respect to gas fading using Canon inks. Lucky for me I have quite a bit of this stuff left over from my Epson...
Has anyone done any testing to see which of the aftermarket inks for the CLI-8 provide the best color accuracy to the originals? Best longevity? Possibly even a wider gamut?
I notice Inkjetmall has been advertising some Canon ink availability (although not Colorlife 100). I've used their Espon...
