I have been using a Redsetter on Ip4500 & Ip4200's for about 80 resets so far, the only problem I have encountered is the battery going flat. i do three resets then the resetter refuses to do anything until it has a rest, I took the resetter apart and found that the battery voltage was...
For the Aussies in the group we have White Knight Crystal Clear Acrylic available at Bunnings (large hardware chain) or large paint stores it comes in gloss and satin and does a great job of waterproofing. If you want the print very waterproof do the back first let it dry, then a quick spray...
Rihac inks are one of the best around, fade resistance is excellent I have placed a test chart out in full sun for 2 weeks and no fading is noticeable.
I only use the dye inks in all carts and the colour photos are very close to OEM inks and only costs about $1.00 per fill, so far I have...
Try buying blunt needles then a bit of hobby work on the tip, first with a fine grinder then a sharpening stone to hone it fine. It's not like it has to go through flesh without to much pain(unless you slip).
I had to do this in the past before sourcing sharp 50mm needles.
Hi Grandad
I was talking to my partner about your idea on safe ink movement around the house, she said that there should be a section for wife's and partners of reinkers to tell of the misshaps that we would never reveal to fellow inkers, eg going to a dinner party with different coloured...
Hi
The simplified repair manual doesn't give step by step instructions only a guide on subjects but still very handy to have, if you want a copy send me an email.
I have 2 IP4500's one in use, one in storage just in case. Redsetter ($56AU) does the job along with the German method of refilling, works out at $1.00 per cart to refill sure beats $20 to $25 for new carts.

I used a German method on the 5PGBK and Cli-8s for filling & flushing, a modified syringe with a 50mm needle and control valve adapted onto a garden hose with heatshrink tubing (internal glue type).I have changed the type of syringe to one with locking system for the needle so avoiding any...

Thanks for the anitfreeze idea went to Kmart auto section and found antifreeze 65g/lit which works out to be 6.5%, with a small amount of bittering agent to stop the kids drinking it.
I am going to run a trial on it today with some alcohol added, I will report back.

The reason I drilled higher up was to avoid being near the exit sponge, seems to work ok for me I have never had to reseat one yet.
Does anyone know what the purpose of the vertical grooves just near the ink crossover point inside the cart.
Also how to buy Propylene Glycol in less...
I used a modified German method on the 5PGBK by drilling the hole half way up the face and using a modified syringe with a 50mm needle adapted onto a garden hose with heatshrink tubing (internal glue type), then hose out the residual ink (almost like reverse liposuction) when finished run a...
I went to a store yesterday and asked the staff if I could have a dig through the recycle bin for some carts and she even helped me picking them out until she discovered the ink factor, then said take what you want.
The recycling in Aussie consists of feeding all the carts into a thing called...
Go to your nearest stores (Officeworks in Australia) that have recycle bins for empty cartridges and scavenge thru the bin don't worry about pride, think of the saving. The empty cartridges that I got were a bit on the dry side so I used a modified German method by drilling the hole half way up...
