Well, I just bought another IP3500 for my own safety.
The future is bleaker, and I don't wanna bet.
Besides, the new printer doesn't seem to be much better anyway.
Mostly only marketing gimmicks, new protection, and new consumer traps
Better safe than sorry. LOLL
Does anyone know if these 2 new printers are still refillable ?
Can it be forced to resume printing like before (like IP3500/4500) ?
If they completely block the printer now, I'd better run to the shop now to buy another IP3500 for backup.
While the color cartridge might cost about the same as Canon's current cartridges, I bet the new "clear-pigment ink" will cost a BOMB. That's easy to predict. It's a tactic. Not mentioning the new color cartridge & printer might not even be refillable anymore.
I have IP3500 now, but haven't got the chance to refill, but I used to have i865 which basically use the same non-chipped cartridges BCI-6. I have printed ....God....countless of pages, like 15000 pages perhaps. This cartridge can be refilled so many times. In fact, during my 2 years of use...
For me, suddenly this printer becomes valuable now. The new Canon printer is much more difficult to refill, not mentioning the price of cartridge. :). This i255 compatible cartridge is sooo cheapppp. Only $2 for black & $2.5 for color, and it lasts forever. I've been using the same...
I still have an old i255 printer that recently developed printing alignment problem.
The black printhead seems to misalign on some columns, and the Canon printhead alignment utility can not help.
In nozzle test, all the lines are printed (no missing lines), but some lines are shifted above the...

Canon PIXMA iP4200, iP5200, iP5200R, iP6600D, MP500, MP800 & MP950 will run slower if using refilled cartridges according to Canon. CLI-8 based printers will run slower using refilled cartridges...
yeah. Gone HP. Welcome back Canon.
I'd stay with IP3500 or IP4500. Nothing can change my mind now.
I previously owned i865 which lasted for 2.5 years because the logicboard acted up.
I bought 1000ml bottle of ink, and I refilled them myself.
During that 2.5 years, I only needed to change...
I know this is more like Canon printer forum, but I shoot anyway.
I'm reviewing some models from HP & Canon, but I'm a little confused with HP cartridge information.
According to HP, some cartridge (tri-color) like HP22 only has 5ml ink. Is this per color or total capacity for 3 colors ...
Does anyone know for sure if Canon IP3500 or IP4500 can be refilled ?
I've tried to search everywhere, incl this forum, but I got very minimal info on these new printers. Even if there is, somehow I don't find it quite convincing or there is not enough info on them.
Can these new printers be...
I think there might be some electrical problem with my printer. I will bring to Canon service center to see what they say about it.
I find the service code handy for my future reference. I never knew about that before. I put it in my manual just in case I need it one day.
Thank you.
One more thing, sometimes my i865 also does a strange paper feeding. Once in while (not every pages I print), the paper rolls in, then rolls out half page, rolls in, rolls out, rolls in....and the printing starts. Strangely, the final printing position is correct. Is this behavior by design ?
I have used Canon i865 (i860 in US) for almost 2 years, and I have always had a strange problem of moving printhead while changing cartrdige. I've had this problem since I bought it, but I never thought of complaining to Canon because it doesn't always do this all the time.
So, I thought it...
