Newbie question: which printer?; which resetter?; which ink?; help!

IP3500 is fast, cheap and not so much inferior than IP4500. For photo printing, they are actually almost equal in term of quality. IP4500 is faster for photo printing, have 1 more black CLI-8, CD/DVD printing (except US version) and a duplex. But if you don't need all these additional...

Where to buy empty CLI-8 with chip ?

Just to update all. I have received the package, and tried this compatible with chip. It works without a problem in my IP4500. The cartridge quality is so-so. The sponge looks worse than OEM though. Don't know how many times I can refill this, but they're cheap. The ink quality looks OK for...

    Inktec bulk-ink question

Thanks for the info Tommy. It's another confirmation. Too bad I didn't realize this before I bought 5 bottles of each color, which are definitely universal ink. Once I use up my stock, I will know what to buy. Always great info from this forum. Love it.

Auto Reset Chip for PGI-5BK & CLI-8 from Macrocenter

That is stupid. No one will keep the printer powered-on all the time just to maintain the ink status. I also bought Canon resetter from http://www.inkfilling.com/show_canon-cli8-pgi5-resetter.html It is also $27 and looks like a Sudhaus.

Pigment or Dye? Does the printer driver choose? (Canon ip4500)

It won't use your pigment ink because you scanned the text with Photocopier Pro. The result is a bitmapped graphic that looks like your text (and the printer also assumes graphic printing, and it doesnt care if it looks like text) That's why your dye-black will be used instead. Your pigment...

Pigment or Dye? Does the printer driver choose? (Canon ip4500)

Actually I think the printer does know whether it prints text or graphics. I'm not technically-savvy enough to explain how, but I think the printer does know from the data type sent by the computer to the printer. If it is graphics, the data sent is actually raster data. If text, the data...

    Inktec bulk-ink question

Does anyone know if Inktec really has different ink formulation for different types of Canon dye-printers ? When I look at the cross reference table, they have different reference number for different Canon printers, although they are all dye-inks. Is it just marketing? or are they really...

Where to buy empty CLI-8 with chip ?

Search everywhere from Ebay, Google, etc. No where found. I need empty CLI-8 & PG-5BK with chip because I intend to use my own choice of ink. I could only find empty one without chip, or refilled with chip. Anybody knows ? THanks.

    CLI-8 & PGI-5 Reseetter from InkFilling

I just made an order yesterday from inkfilling. I think they're on sale because IP3500 & IP4500 has been discontinued, and the new models IP3600 & IP4600 series have used different ink cartridge and chip

    CLI-8 & PGI-5 Reseetter from InkFilling

Does anyone know this CLI-8 & PGI-5 resetter from InkFilling ? http://www.inkfilling.com/show_canon-cli8-pgi5-resetter.html It is certainly much cheaper than what I found in Ebay ($27.99), and they look like a Sudhaus. Anybody has experience with this ? I'm tempted to buy one.

    Keeping printer safely

I have bought half kilogram of white silica gel (min. quantity) for about US$9 converted. Much more expensive than I thought. It does change color to pink when moisture absorbed. Since it doesn't come with any small bags for me to use (just 0.5 kg in a thick plastic bag). I suppose I will...

fun with Canon: pixma ip4600 vs pixma ip4500

Does anyone notice that IP4500 seems to do A LOT OF pausing before printing, or when it gets ready ? The green LED keeps blinking for like 20-30 secs everytime before it gets steady. I still remember IP3500 does not do this a lot. It can get ready to print almost instantly. And the design...

    Keeping printer safely

Thanks for the advice. I think I will just use up all the ink cartridges from IP3500 in this printer when replacement is necessary. They are all CLI-8. The only missing cartridge is CLI-8 Black which IP4500 has, but not IP3500. I dont want to keep the ink for too long (like 2-3 years)...

    Keeping printer safely

This is kinda embarasshing for me, but I have 2 units of IP3500 as spares, while still using my old i865. I got the 2nd IP3500 a real deal, that's why I got 2 units now. Suddenly last week my i865 logicboard got screwed. No sparepart, and I got an offer to trade-in to IP4500 with $40 price...
