refilling the mp990 and newer smaller cartridges

Mikling: Thanks for this info, I had been looking for it and here it is. I just purchased 2 of the MP990 machines and I'm really enjoying the output, and the ease of top filling with the SquEasyFill bottles and caps. I enjoyed your discussion on creating a dedicated BW printer since I may be...

    B&W on Canon Printers

Thanks, Mikling. I'll be waiting to get your OK before doing this. Since I write black and white "how to draw" books with a lot of pictures, this concept was very appealing to me and I would really like to know if you come up with a formula for the MP990's, or if the formula you already have...

    B&W on Canon Printers

Mikling: To make a BW dedicated printer out of a MP990 (using the 220/221 carts), do I understand correctly that I would take out the 5 dye based carts, (of course, flush and dry them) and simply replace the ink with dye based photo black ink? Even the gray cart? Thanks for you advice.

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

On a cleaning solution suitable for cleaning printheads and carts: I KNOW Windex with ammonia works and works well. My cleaning methodology for the 30 OEM carts I bought from Ebay was to purge the carts with warm running water (using a jig my spouse made me that allowed the inlet hole to fit...

    Inkjet Printhead Cleaning Method

Someone had asked earlier if printheads are lubricated when they are packaged. Recently, I received a new (free) printhead for an MP990 printer. When I opened the package it had a lubricant of some kind on the printhead as well as on all 6 nozzle inlets. What was also interesting is that there...

I DID IT? OMG how fun is this?

rodbam: Pardon my slight disagreement, but you know more than "bugger all". You had a problem with the German method and fixed it by making the needle entry hole a bit bigger which allowed you to move the needle around to find the small entry into the ink chamber. And you had zero problems...

I DID IT? OMG how fun is this?

websnail: Yep. Dream away, Martin. No more dreaded helpdesk tickets thinking, "oh no, what does that woman want now?". Aren't you thrilled? I just want to be one of those people who can say, "I"ve been top filling for (umpty bajillion) years with no problems". And, so far so good, thanks...

I DID IT? OMG how fun is this?

Thanks Redbrickman. Installing my refilled cartridges and seeing them work like they were originals was a real kick. I had sort of been looking forward to, and dreading the day I needed to do this at the same time. Just had to have faith that everyone here was steering me in the right...

I DID IT? OMG how fun is this?

I said I'd scream to the rooftops on my first Canon 220/221 cart refills and today was the day. I did my first refill and it was so fun!!! Can't believe how easy it is. These squeasyfill bottles and caps in the Octoinkjet refill kit are a breeze. So easy and clean. websnail Sorry to be such...

How to get more female printer geeks

websnail No, what you need to do is figure out how to make all inks a derivative of chocolate. Then, you would not only have more female printer geeks, you would also N-E-V-E-R have a waste ink tank problem.

    Storage question?

For all you master refillers I know this is a very basic question, but I am about to place into storage 2 printers; an HP C4180 and a Canon ip1600. They both use the double cart system, one being a tri-color. Both have quite a bit of ink left in them. Since the printheads are in the carts...

websnail being called a "printer geek" - a good thing being called a "cart sucker" - not a good thing.......but, if it works.....a very good thing.
