I have just ordered from a UK supplier for 19.99 including postage. I will report back after receipt (or otherwise!!).............it supposedly comes without a battery........perhaps thats how they are keeping the cost down ?
Regarding your comment "expect Canon will close the loophole with...
Yes this is being considered...........but my 12lb sledge (22 @BQ- currently on loan in Powys) with my luck would probably bounce off it and give me a nasty injury , and following that , someone would post with the correct solution that was dead easy and only required that you did not use force...

This is where I got mine in the UK....you would have to ask if they would post to the USA , but it was a small package , the service was good and the price very reasonable.
Thanks Manuchau,
Its well worth a try , the machine was tipped upside down/ sideways etc some ink or obstruction may have occurred , it wont cost anything to have a good look.
I shall be resuming repair activites with this &^%!!****!!!! printer upon return from my vacation, will post...
The power box was tested for out put and was putting out voltages.......the box was re-connected and re-tried ,No joy. (print head and inks still in there)
Dismantling then took place :-
Back end Left and Right screws of side casings removed.
These sides were spread and the 3or 4 wire looms on...
Full marks ! Most illuminating !, until I watched the video I thought you were going to advocate the very simple "fan" method.........but I now see your way is just as easy and probably more efficient !.
I had not seen this way before. the video was definitely worth it.
Yes , thanks very much Defcon................"non replaceable"???...........I feel a challenge coming on.
If the latest Canon printers are (according to rumor) demanding fully functioning chips, this may become a necessary item in the refillers kit ........perhaps ?
Thanks Ron,
Thats a bit beyond me.....I am awaiting my sons`s return from his foreign holiday...on this wee4kend.....he`s the one who understands how to use the the meter......and electrical items.
I will post further on the result...
Thanks Websnail,
I second your first remark..............I am going to hold back off of drastic dismantling action for a few days in the hope that perhaps someone else will have some clever/gentle solutions, that avoid damage to any of the parts.
I have decided that because it was such a...
Thanks Websnail, I tried this earlier in the day, with no success........but after you suggesting it I just tried it again...........not a glimmer.
Earlier in the day I opened up the power pack box (after disconnecting) ,to see if there was any obvious dodgy looking component but all looks...
My mp600 powered down today by itself.......I had been printing ok previously, ( I was making a Powerpoint custom daily print test sheet incorporating colored blocks to purge and a space for the nozzle check on the same sheet)..
When I went to print , it said unable- "printer offline "..indeed...
This is very interesting.......the price of the resetter is attractive......their selection and support of the Durchstich method (50mm needle in the included ink refill kit) shows awareness of recent techniques.
I would buy one BUT ........., (on todays visit !) there is no stock of the...
He talks about a "yellow hole!" and a "magenta hole ", which suggested seperate ink tanks to me, hence the form of the advice I gave.
As he did not mention re-filling i presumed he was just slotting carts in the vacant spaces.
You do not say your make and model of printer , I am presuming it s a seperate tank for each color type printer. either Epson or Canon.
It should not be the end of the world. Your head will be cross contaminated for these 2 colors if you tried printing with them while switched.
Firstly locate...
Kitty ,
I have , (like many others) , been following this thread with a great deal of interest, and I would like to second Trigger`s request to you to keep us informed on your progress in totally overcoming this nasty problem.
There are still several unanswered questions that we all may need...
Great News , so glad we were able to be of service, thank you for coming back and letting us know it was successful.
Yes , you have to override for each cart , (currently my MP600 has 3 disabled and 2 active).
The LCD screen is a handy little screen which I think repeats info that is also...
Firstly , it would appear this is a protection device designed to protect the head from burnout when the printer is "on " but unattended. Quite sensible.
Your text suggests you have emptied / topped up the colour carts and employed the "override" of the ink monitor on these carts.
Your text...
I would agree , I have recently printed a PDF 80 page camera manual in duplex on my MP600 using the normal setting. Yes it was slow , ( I went shopping for an hour), this is due to the "ink drying time allowance", (which I you can adjust in Custom Settings , perhaps playing with this will give...
here we go
Hopefully the pictures are fairly self explanatory
Postcript 26/03/08 .
Original thanks should go to hpnetserver for his post of 8/18/2005 where he first drew our attention to this type of tool. I have just seen it (again?) and realise I am not the original inventer.
The...
I am working on producing the pictures.........meanwhile (as the pump is the last resort, and Smiles suggestions of soda straw usage are very similar) , I recommend employing as many of Smiles procedures as you can.
The only point of difference I have with Smiles procedures are the purge sheet...
