    How do Maxify chips work?

Thanks for all the insight/input. I don't have a second Maxify to test with. When I first started refilling Maxify in early 2019 I couldn't find XL ARC chips for my MB2720. The only chips I could find where one-time-use XLs and non-XL ARCs. I bought both. I'm almost out of the one-time-use...

    How do Maxify chips work?

Do Maxify chips actively monitor ink level? Or is their only purpose to limit cartridges to one use? My understanding is there is no physical difference between OEM XL and non-XL cartridges except amount of ink from the factory. Can I use a 3rd party non-XL ARC on an OEM cartridge but fill it...

    Refilling Maxify cartridges

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'll cut the green refill tool at a location which is the same OD as the print head intake.

    Refilling Maxify cartridges

Tried my first refill with a homemade refill tool. It failed due to the heat shrink tubing separating from the hypodermic needle base. Instead I just jammed the syringe base into the ink output port of the cartridge. Got it to refill but this didn't seal well. Picture has a cartridge ink...

Thanks @The Hat . I did the same thing. However my refill tool is too loose. @palombian suggested using heat shrink tubing to enlarge my tools diameter and create a tighter the fit. I'll this next.

Do you believe these homemade refill tools pierced the silicon plug at the back of the cartridge output port? Wouldn't cause problems? I'm fairly certain the pink homemade tool I made is too loose. It doesn't seal at all.

The last photo in post #20 is a bit unclear, but the end of the naked syringe without needle, does insert into the cartridge output port and fits tightly against the inside wall of the cartridge port. However it doesn't reach back into the silicon plug at the back of the cartridge output port...

Back on post #20 I was questioning; does this refill tool need to seal to the silicon plug or can the tool just seal to the larger outside edge of the cartridge port? I didn't see any responses so I began to wonder if forum members where notified about this post. Maybe my post was unclear?

I have the ARC chips and ink. I'm trying to build a tool for refilling following @The Hat 's tools (a cut-off needle) for PRO-1 carts. However my attempt doesn't fit, its too loose. I tore the ink output port from a PGI-1200 to have a closer look. You can see the back of the ink port has...

@palombian, the ml values you give on post # 15 are for PGI-1200XL cartridges? Wow, big difference in size between PGI-1200XLs and PGI-2500XLs cartridges.

I might need to buy a new set of cartridges just to get their initial full weight.
