Tried my first refill with a homemade refill tool. It failed due to the heat shrink tubing separating from the hypodermic needle base. Instead I just jammed the syringe base into the ink output port of the cartridge. Got it to refill but this didn't seal well. Picture has a cartridge ink port taking out of the cartridge to better see what's going on.

Afterwards I bought a 20 and 18 gauge tapered needles (refill tools) from OctoInkjet. Both fit through the slit in the back of the ink port. Is this correct?

Where should a refill tool interface with the ink port? What size do I need the refill tool to be?

Thanks for any help or insight,
Steve

You need to trim the top of that refill tip you got from OctoInkjet to look like these, then they won’t jam or get stuck in the cart inlets..

I use now the green tips from octoinkjet as on your second photo with a 60ml syringe as @The Hat uses.
Anything that goes deep enough (as the ink inlet needle of the printhead) works.

I started with empty ballpoint ink tubes with a shrink tube:

Maybe we should ask the 3D addicts of this forum to design and print a properly sized part for that job. ;)

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'll cut the green refill tool at a location which is the same OD as the print head intake.

Do not cut anything before trying.
