Some current or recent Epson printers like the just discontinued Artisan series have a decent supply of CISS and refillible carts, although they use dye ink that is somewhat better for photo printing than text documents. If you do a careful job of searching thrift stores and ebay you might find...
Thank you.
My only remaining issue is an irregular black nozzle test pattern. Parts of the stair step parade have an inconsistant drop and the black text has unprinted areas. I suppose there could still be some clogged nozzles, which hopefully will clear with use. Also, the Precision...
Does the printer still print well when all the carts are being properly recognized? If so, at least the print head is still good.
Could be your cart supplier is having QC problems with recent batches (unreliable chips) or maybe the chip contacts in your printer are becoming corroded and giving...
Is it still under warranty? Most warranty service departments would suspect a wrong voltage scenario when inspecting a fried power supply and probably deny the warranty replacement, but it might be worth a shot if it doesnt cost you much to bring or ship it to a authorized service facility...
UPDATE:
Since I thought this printer was beyond hope I decided to remove the print head, just to see what failed if possible. I swore I'd read many times over the years it was a very difficult job, but found a site that gave a simple tutoral and found the task to be very easy. When taking the...
Looks like this printer is ready for the recycling center now...
In trying to clear an assumed clog for the black nozzle section of my R220:
* Tried a different, known-good black cart - no difference.
* Drained the refillable black cart and refilled with windex w/ammonia, did numerous clean...
I searched the forums first but didn't find any very recent info Re: my print engine...
Wouldn't you know it... out of all my R200/R220 printers, the one that I bought new in the box and has the least use is giving me problems.
Three thrift store cheapies still work fine. :hu
In this R220 I...
You may have an ink delivery problem with the cyan cart, permitting sufficient volume for the nozzle check but quickly diminishing during a photo print. Is the breather vent on the cart's top clear? Does the cart's sponge have the same saturation pattern as the others? Does the cyan cart's ink...
Boiling temps will ruin a print head, just as the excessive heat produced by running a Canon head out of ink will do. I've *read* that it is okay to run fairly warm water through or to soak a print head though, but haven't tried it myself. And as panos stated, the head must be completely dry in...
My local pharmacy has glycerin, but not drug/food grade propylene glycol. The only real source of propylene glycol locally is in RV antifreeze -- a good buy at less than $10/gallon when around 6 oz of glycerin costs nearly the same. Only trouble is the pink coloring in RV antifreeze may conflict...
I was too lazy to get glycerin (and can't buy propylene glycol locally) for the purge formula and that must be why the ink didn't fully absorb into the sponge in a few of the carts I did. (Perhaps the sponges that absorbed best had some residual humectant left over from the old ink). Lesson...
That notice was removed from his Ebay store pages a few days ago and I was hoping Mikling just forgot to do the same on his Precision Colors home page. I'm really starting to wonder what's going on with him and hope he will soon surface...
