Is Refilling Cheaper than Using OEM INKS?

The ink absorber...what is this ? I am planning on buying a 9000 and I wish to take better care of it than the old ones (Canon 4700), dead, only 5 years old... TIA

The BEST Canon printers, the POOREST Canon printers for refilling.

Another reason for me to buy the more expensive 9000 printer. Maybe I will go "refill", rather than being so wasteful... The CLI-8 cartridges seem to be good for refill. Thanks for all this work/info.

    Tremendous value for money.

The better the product, the fewer the so-called sales. I'd sooner buy a $200 printer with ink consumption of $10 annually than a $100 unit consuming $50 in ink..

    Canon 480

Thanks for the response, Hat This is a serious problem with printers, the expensive, very expensive ink. The Epsom I owned years ago was a hog. The Canon is maybe slightly better. Refillable is the answer, and the manufacturers like this not, I suspect. Kodak Brother HP ...paper jam delite ...

    Canon 480

I am contemplating this purchase, $50 used. How old is this??, I hope its better than the iP series - rather troublesome. It seems to be a very light duty machine, which, IMO, is all I need.

    Canon printhead takes a bath

This is getting good. About ten years ago, I did this, with an Epson (?) printer...the consumed ink was costing more than the machine ! But, this was a royal PITA...and now my hand shakes with essential tremor, I think. Still, as I am , or I try to be an economical man. Waste to me is an...

    Canon printhead takes a bath

If you are willing to risk all, try cleaning the head in ammonia......which some glass cleaners (some Windexs) still use.. I used a WalMart glass cleaner...evidently this worked.. Hooray, she is printing again, but not perfectly... I too have a water softener, now I need to learn how to maintain...

    Canon printhead takes a bath

Yeah.....sloppy and lazy I am at times....yet, for my vehicles cooling system, I insist on distilled water.......and , of course the anti-rust. I'll order some ink today and clean the contacts with 50% isopropyl alcohol...probably 90% is better. Thanks for the responses.

    Canon printhead takes a bath

The problem is, of course, she prints not in black....the cleanings only consumed ink, IMO, its insane to use expensive ink to clean. Enter the "windex". Some Windex has no ammonia..I think its ammonia that does the cleaning of the head. So I am using the $1 Walmart window cleaner rather than...

    Canon printhead takes a bath

Canon ip 4700, about 2 to 4 years old, "low" miles, mostly Sudoku. Several weeks ago, I finally re-newed the ink, after I ran the black dry (nearly,IMO.) Cleaning after cleaning only used up the new ink... Insanity, using ink to clean the printer head. So, I removed the head , easy enough, I am...

What is best color laser printer?

Epson c1100 for $58 ?? I owned an Epson once...it was an ink-monster-too expensive to operate, but this was ten years ago. I switched to Canon....same thing, but I think a Canon is much better.. The $58 is a cheap internet come on, which I detest. The real price must be much more.
