I have printed d86cfv's harbour shot on my ip8500 with the new print-head and Canon OEM Inks (6 x 4 " Canon Photo Paper Plus set to PhotoPaper Pro + borderless; currently I don't have any PhotoPaper Pro in this size) and could see no evidence of end of page banding in this print.
Could this...
Just thought that I should wrap up my issue that commenced this post. Canon graciously replaced the print-head under warranty (no questions asked) and the resulting print using Hobbicolors carts was flawless:
Lessons learnt:
(1) End of page banding MAY be due to a print-head blockage (it...
d86cfv - In my case before the head failed completely on R & G channels I became almost certain that the banding was due to a partial blockage because as the blockage was reduced, then so was the banding.
I read your post as saying that you have had 2 x different machines and 2 x different...
I agree that the Nozzle check was looking reasonably good at this point. However as my test print (the sunset at http://www.pbase.com/correzpond/printer_problems) continued to show definite (albeit improved) striping at the 1.5cm point I decided to proceed with the ultimately fatal overnight...
Thank you all for your comments, particularly Grandad.
I gave the print-head 2 more cleaning cycles with Rubbing Alcohol. The first saw some improvement, but the second (overnight soak) was also the last as the R & G channels have stopped working completely.

MIS could be the culprit here & as these inks were used in the printer for up to a about a month before I noticed the problem while using Hobbicolors. However my concern really isn't to lay blame on a particular ink; I have read enough about non-OEM inks to suspect that most are...
Grandad - What inks are you using? I currently have my printed loaded with Forumlabs replaceable carts, however the problem came up while the printer was loaded with Hobbicolors.
Following from Panos comments I have saved a nozzle check produced from 3 passes through the printer at...
Grandad - Thanks for the intriguing explanation of how printers deal with 'end of paper'. I had always wondered what was occuring when the printer was nearly stationary at the end of a paper; the real complexity of these devices sometimes make it seem more implausible that they work as reliably...

Thankyou. I tried the 'post-it' note fix and the particular end of page banding went away, although the general lighter banding in Cyan across the page remains.
It seems that I may have two issues, one related to paper feed & another related to the printhead, although agree that it...
My Canon Pixma ip8500 is printing bands approximately 1.5 cm from the end of each printed page. These occur at the same location on both A4 and 4 x 6 prints.
Example images are posted at http://www.pbase.com/correzpond/printer_problems
Lighter banding in cyan is evident right across the...
I have conducted fading tests with Hobbicolors Inks against 10 different papers. You can view the results at http://www.pbase.com/correzpond/paper_tests. My experience is that you can't go past the Ilford swellable papers 'Classic Pearl' and 'Classic Gloss', not just with Hobbicolors inks, but...
I am based in Sydney Australia and have successfully & very easily imported both MIS Inks (from their Website) and Hobbicolors Inks (via the Ebay link) into Australia. Initially I contacted Hobbicolors because their ebay site didn't indicate international shipping, but Dave from Hobbicolors was...
I recently switched to using Hobbicolors non-OEM Inks in my Canon Pixma ip8500 and completed tests of 10 different papers, including the 'swellable' papers Ilford Classic Gloss and Ilford Classic Pearl which are known for their improved resistance to changes wrought by atmosphere (gas) and...
