I’ve just had my first failure of the Cli-8 cart, I have been refilling these carts for years and never came across this issue before.:hu

The cart was working in my printer two days ago, but I noticed I had to refill it after only a little bit of use, when I did get around to refilling it, I was getting ink on my fingers !

On further investigation, I found the cart was coming apart at the top, it had split away from the sides very slightly, enough to leak slightly onto my hands but it also must have been leaking when the head was parked after use.

I’ve highlighted the area in the photo where there is still some dried ink, just goes to show that these carts are not indestructible... :(

The quick emptying was an immediate warning. There are adhesives that will work nowadays to fix it but is it worth the trouble? Knowing the Hat, you will probably find a way to mend it. When we flush cartridges en masse, there are always one or two that burst this way and that way the defective/weak ones are culled.

In memory of Magenta who kept working right up to the end. :(

I think this far more appropriate, i can even picture our poor friend Magenta singing it to his comrades...

It even has a reference to Champagne, which cost wise printer ink is commonly referenced. :D

Still at least we now know as this was @The Hat and his carts grew up with him the average life span of one is 150+ years :p (Oh im so dead for that :) )

According to @CakeHole, I might have to change my Avatar to something more appropriate, like this before I pop off... :smack

I was actually thinking of modernising you to be down with the kids (as they say) and this recent episode seems the perfect opportunity to take your ink splatter issues and modernise your head wear apparel all at once...
