CLI-526/PGI-525 fast-fill cartridges ?

I consider refilling my MG5250.

Most people here prefer to reset and refill OEM cartridges.
After reading all problems with sponges, are fastfill cartridges with auto-reset chips really so bad and why are they still sold by many suppliers ?

That's what I don't know.

But I remember a recent discussion on the difficulty to change the chip on the 550/551 cartridges, where the conclusion was that 3th party cartridges were the best solution after all.

So why it shouldn't work with the previous generation ?
