I've been refilling my OEM cartridges, originally with Precision Colors and now InkPot/InkOwl inks and have been very satisfied with the results. That is, until I printed this image (exported .jpg image file, cropped below)...

As you should be able to see from the following scan of the resulting print, there is (inverse?) banding above directly in line with the yellow the background is more black than where there is no yellow. The yellow (and blue) bars are 100% vertical. You might see a less noticible swath above the blue columns too. (Colours look OK on print, but this print didn't scan very well; low resolution used for demonstration purposes).

Swapping to OEM inks the banding disappears.

Is there an issue with the OEM cartridges I'm refilling, or the ink I'm using or is this normal for non-OEM inks....?

Thanks, in advance, for your assistance.

I presume the ink head moves from left to right (left is the side where the paper is inserted into the printer and right side is where the paper leaves the printers). In that case it is most likely ink flow problems with your refilled cartridges. The cartridges have a bladder design and sometimes tiny air bubbles can cause a less than ideal ink flow. Did you try to disable bidirectional printing: this slows down print speed but gives the cartridges more time to replenish the print head with enough ink in order to prevent this behaviour.

My suggestion would be to purge all your carts thoroughly, and refill again with fresh inks, these carts can sometimes get lazy when called upon to deliver adequate ink flow for some bigger print jobs..

Thanks for your comments. I should have mentioned that it is a landscape oriented print and the vertical yellow bars are across the width of the paper. (Same orientation as the print head movement).
I'm using a Mac (macOS Tahoe) as my main computer, and I do not see a way of disabling bi-directional printing. Checking Google does not provide any insight, especially as there is no official Canon driver for Tahoe. Is disabling bi-directional printing an option in macOS Tahoe? How?
I do have an older Windows machine (Win11) and will try that option to see if the resulting print is improved.
