To be honest, I don't feel exactly new here because I read the forum for years but this is my first post:)

I use to have Epson 1500w. It was my first photo printer, very good but I faced the Epson head problem of mixed colors inside the head (caused by crack in the separator between ink channels).

Next I bought L1800 with 3 years of warranty. I still use it and like it. The only issue I face is that very often some nozzles are missing and it needs clean or even flush to have a perfect nozzle test result. I suspect that the Epson CISS is not perfect;)

I think that forum is a great place for reading and learning about printing.

Thank you all for your contribution.

From the EPSON Ecotank history, The L1800 design might be almost as old as the 1st generation L800.
It seems no one way valve design, so you might need to check the damper sometimes.

Thanks for your comment. Two questions appeared here... :)
1. Is it a good idea to put some valves on the tubes, so, ink can flow only towards the head?
2. Which damper is a good idea to check and why? (is it somehow related to the valves)

btw: stg is short from stargazer :)

Sometime, I would check my L800. Especially after I move it.
I never use the valves from 3rd party, so I don't have experience about it could comment.
