Hello there

Just picked up a new (looking) Pixma Pro-100 on CL
Everything was in the box sealed.

Came home turned it on and now trying to set everything up but the printhead tray is stuck to the right side of the printer after turning on and opening top.

Getting the 1300 error code attached.
There's no packaging tape nothing is stuck inside.

When I power down the printer the tray slightly moves up and down and to the left a bit then goes back to the same far right side position and turns off.
Not sure how to solve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

By your post, I don’t have an exact idea of the situation.

If the printer was new and sealed, as they come directly from Canon, you should have gone through the initial setup process : removing the red tapes around, powering on the machine, wait for the printhead carriage to move to the center, install the printhead and cartridges, etc. Were you able to do that without problems but the error 1300 popped afterwards or else the carriage refused to move from the start and the error message appeared then, so that you’ve been unable to install the printhead ?
Or maybe when you opened the box, the red tapes were removed and the printhead/cartridges already installed ?. In that case, the printer wasn’t new. Somebody has done the first installation and who knows what happened.

Sorry for not being more specific

I’m at the step in the setup process where you install the print head. Everything was taped and sealed when I took it out of the box.

When I open to top of the printer to install the print head the print head carrier doesn’t move, stays to the far right side of the printer and gives the error code.

Hope that makes sense

but the printhead tray is stuck to the right side of the printer after turning on and opening top.
Try turning printer off and un-plugging it from the wall socket for 5 minutes, then raise the top cover first and then plug in the printer and power on, that should move the print head carriage to the centre..

Hi The Hat

Just tried that. I saw the carriage moving slightly up and down then almost went to center then back to the right side of the printer. Now just the white power light is flashing.

Thank you for any help

Did the printer make any usual sound like a grinding noise, and how many times are the lights flashing, please count the sequence..

I'm not sure if the sounds are unusual but there was a lot of clicking sounds. I have a video attached.

The white light just constantly blinks, if I close the top cover it goes back to 3 orange flashes.

Thank you!

I listen carefully and everything sounds ok, and the only thing I got on the 3 LED lights flashing is a paper jam, which it can’t be as we know, you could also try lowering the front paper tray at start-up..

But if you still want to proceed and install the print head you can and this will enable you to see if there is anything caught or stuck in on the right hand side of the printer, so as the printer starts up, watch it carefully and pull the power plug once you can see the print carriage moving toward the middle of the printer.. ( At 24 seconds on you video)

You can install the print head by pulling the print carriage to the centre of the printer while the power is turned off but don’t install the carts till you can get rid of the flashing LED light..

You will be able to move the head over to the far left to give you better access into the right side, and when you’re sure there’s nothing in there close the lid and power on, and wait for the next on screen message.. Use a flash light if necessary..

Did this. Tried calling Canon tech for help. They also suggested the same (plug pull, moving carriage).
Installed the printer head powered on now the lights are switching between white and orange.

They want to do a warranty exchange but of course I don't have proof of purchase and CL seller is gone with the wind.

SMH !

Any other suggestions?
Thanks again
