Welp, found the problem. Selected CMYK color models throughout, and SWOP, while the overall color settings were RGB/8-bit 🙃

Imma get back to y'all once I take a good long nap.

Let the Printer Handle the Colours.. Till you know what you got.
Since OP already has the unusual paper, I don't think it wrong to try the Red River ICC. Otherwise, I agree - get to know the stock cabilities and limitations of your new printer and then delve into customization. It is worthwhile to print the same image with stock Canon ICC settings now that he has used Red River's ICC. Comparing the two images will add to his knowledge of his new printer.

@Ink stained Fingers discussed monitor calibration and the vastness of color management. Other things that can limit matching printer output with the monitor image is the monitor's own output limitations even when calibrated due to inexpensive build or the usedness of the monitor. Graphics card, or just a graphics chip on the motherboard or in the CPU itself, is another area of potential limitation.

Hopefully OP has corrected his settings and will get better printed images.

It’s very simple to let the printer do the donkey work, but that doesn’t mean you can’t add in your own Media setting s like (Red River ICC.) at the same time…
It’s imperative to let the printer handle colour till you know what your doing..

I is confused. :idunno If you do not turn off the printer's own handling of color management when using the Red River ICC in Photoshop then you'll double profile.

That’s a possibility if your unware..
It’s a matter of finding which Media setting is closest to the Red River paper, I imagine (Glossy Plus ll) or similar..

I've always had incredible success with RRP's profiles, and I've never had any issues like this. I think the issues here were mainly because the colors used SWOP/CMYK settings while the document format itself was, hilariously, RGB/8. And I was trying to print straight vector without rasterization. So the vectors all got sent to the printer with, I guess, profiles that just didn't make any sense. Also, I had a red photo filter which looks nice on my monitor but must've been exaggerated either in print or by the profiles.

Metallic papers look fine. I also want to give the art papers a shot. Thanks for the help, guys!

Why install the Red River ICC for their metallic paper unless you are going to use it?

Why would you not use Red River's custom ICC specifically made for the Pro-1000, its Canon inks and their metallic paper?

Your Golden Rule, which I support, does not apply here.

"If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding!"

PS I saw the Google link where someone had a different brand of metallic paper (Kodak?) and did not have an ICC profile for it. He installed the AM1X file from Red River's Metallic paper Pro 1000 ICC download and then set the Pro 1000 to Glossy II. He very much liked the output.
