My first article here............... I take pictures for over 50 years, I print pictures for over 15+ years, my last printer was EPSON P600, I printed more than 3.000 A3+ pictures, but the printing head is dead totally. All the time i used refilling cartidges and inks by German supplier Farbenwerk. I am experienced in colour management enough, I own i1Studio and I do ICC profiles of any printer-ink-paper myself. I was looking for new A3+ printer with option for existing refilling cartidges and inks. My final decision to buy quite new Canon 100s for good price. Printer is on my table. I was looking for cartidges/inks for this new machine. Farbenwerk no more support Canon printers, so I did order InkOwl refilling cartidges and inks.

My first question is (I reat some columns here on PK) if this solution is good enough ? Or is it risky to initiate printing with InkOwl cartidges ? I live in Czech republic, before I did not know Octoink UK. Is your recomendation to order CLI 42 Refillable/Modified cartidges with version 2 inks - 2 sets and Canon Compatible CLI-42 Ink Set v2. [8x125ml] and CLI 42 Resetter ?

I fully undrestand the need of two sets of carts for immediate exhange of all carts in one moment.

Please can you give me the advice about best solution ? Although Brexit, for me it is better to order in Europe, deliveries from USA to Czech are horrible, big dellay, expensive delivery etc,
Thank you !

The forum is familiar with Octoink supplies and the owner is a trusted forum member (websnail). The supplies you list are recommended in general no matter whom you get them from. That does not mean other inks are not recommended, such as InkOwl, but others will need to advise you..

I might recommend starting with ONE set of inks to see if you like them. Octoink inks are well liked and if shipping is an issue then 2 sets of ink at one time may be the least expensive route. Plan on using any opened bottle within 12 months and unopened bottles within 2 years when you order inks. I would order for one year's use. I have used inks older than 2 years and been fine, but you run the risk of desiccated inks and inks contaminated with some biological matter.

Note that there may be an issue if reusing the OEM Yellow CLI-42 cartridge. Our Moderator The Hat has nicknamed it "Yello Gello" and occurs when refilling the OEM Yellow cartridge. It is a sludge or "Jello" that forms within the sponge leading to porr or no ink flow and leading to ink starvation. This may occur after several refills. It can be avoided by either using a thoroughly flushed CLI-42 Yellow or a CLI-8 cartridge with a chip swap from the Yellow CLI-42.

You may consider octpus-office for a test since it is located within the EU

https://www.octopus-office.de/shop/en/printer-ink/printer-ink-canon/canon-cli-42/?p=1

Be aware that 3rd party refill inks typically show a weaker performance in regards to fading, resisting environmental agents like ozone or UV ; you need to test, if a particular ink still can meet your expectations, display and storage conditions vary widely which makes it difficult to make general recommendations.

I would strictly recommend only to use OEM cartridges for refilling. The design of the sponge with two different ones is special for CLI-42. I had no problems refilling OEM. You only have to clean them before especially the yellow one. Watch the videos from JToolman on YouTube and you know everything needed.
For information: I used PrecisionColor inks.

Maximilian

You need to add 50-60% to the price on Precision Colors website and wait at least 4 weeks for shipping to Europe (via MyUS as I did last year) but with the moderate price and the low dollar it is still very acceptable.

Since the Brexit I am afraid octoink.co.uk won't be cheaper anymore.

In both cases you must order enough to spread the shipping and custom service costs, but not over €150 to avoid import duties...

I have no experience with octopus-office/de dye inks, but with pigment inks they are mixed.

Thanks for all advice, also to Palombian.

Today I did the order to Octoinkjet UK, because there is available everything I will need to start refilling cartidges on my new Pixma Pro 100s. Offer of octopus-office/de is missing remanufactured refilling cartidges, only empty 3rd company cartidges without chip.

I am interested about taxes as the consigment is coming from UK to Czech republic. But honestly to say I take it is a tax of new beginning. Otherway I will need to issue new ICC profiles for the future, my favorite A3+ size I use FUJI PHOTO PEARL Paper 290 grams and my prints on Kappa 5 mm selfadhesive sheets in NIELSEN Aluminium frames are wonderfull.

In theory, you can avoid any tax or added VAT on parcels coming from the UK if the value of the merchandise is no more than 18 British Pounds ( according to Octoinkjet's web ).
Be aware that they cannot guarantee this information, as Tax/Customs policies between the UK and EU aren't still clear after Brexit.
Above a value of 18 UKP you must pay the VAT of your country (for the total amount of goods plus shipping) as well as Customs clearance fees.

Sounds like a Feckin nightmare to me..
OctoInkjet are going to lose a fair bit of custom over this.. :(
