Good day!

I'm new here and would like hear your expert advice on which photo printer should I get with these specs that I need:
  • Can feed 300+ gsm photopaper
  • Can support A3+ paper
  • Can print borderless up to A3+
  • Pigment ink or can support pigment ink oem if ever I found it pricey.
  • Preferably ink tank
I have epson L3110 and it can print on a 300gsm Dual Glossy Photopaper but it needs to be pushed in order to feed properly and it has pizza wheel marks or printer marks in the paper which is totally annoying. I also have a problem with Premium Photopaper Matte 240gsm which is much thicker than the Glossy one with same gsm, it just keeps on jamming. Anyway, I'm eyeing Canon brand which has an automatic unclogging of the print head unlike Epson. Was eyeing Epson L1800 but then I discovered Canon Pixma Pro 10 and became my target but it was out of stock anywhere in my country and I have to wait 2-3 months because it was an old model released in 2015 they have to order it overseas. So I'm thinking of considering other brands such as brother or HP. Or if there's another model of Canon that can suit my needs please let me know. I don't know if I can wait 2-3 months for a new printer.. My budget is around pixma pro-10 or less. I have read around and I saw Epson Sure Color Series, Canon IP8720, but I don't know much about them.. Please give me an advice on what to buy.

The L3110 is an A4 printer, a combo unit, and you are right, models like this one do not feed heavier photo papers reliably, I can report the same from a L310 which I use - a printer only but the same mechanics. But it's irritating that the base model - a WF2010W - since about 10 years - does fine with photo papers up to 300gr, and matte papers, but it is not an inktank model.
What is your print volume overall ? Are you looking to A3 printers because there are no photo printers with pigment inks as A4 models ? Are you looking for pigment inks because of their better longevity ? What is hapening with your prints - sale - give aways - private or commercial use ? Are you doing - or planning to do refill if you can't find an Ecotank printer model ? Are you using both - glossy and matte - papers at the same time ?

I still don't know my print overall because I'm new to this kind of business. I'd like to offer different kinds of prints much like a printing service from 1x1 photo up to posters. I want pigment ink for my transfer papers because it can be washed unlike dye inks. I don't like the printer marks I'm seeing in the output print that is why I'm changing my printer to a better one. If it is not an ecotank or if it is canon pixma pro-10 i'd stick to its original ink. Hmm. I don't get your last question. I print on glossy and matte one after another. Is it bad?

No, not at all, there is an Epson P600 printer for which you can do refill, this model comes with dedicated ink tanks for the glossy and the matte pigment ink but only has one nozzle row for black - there is a mechanical switch between the black ink lines which need time and waste ink when switching so that printer would not be suitable at all for you. The P700 as the successor has 2 dedicated nozzle rows for black, those hinderances are gone - but since it is a new printer model there are no refill accessories yet. So there are not many models left in this range - the Canon Pro10s or the Epson P400 which both can be refilled.

I see. I'll check the availability of P400 if I really cannot wait for the Pro10s maybe I'll consider buying epson again. Thank you for the indepth explaination. I really appreciate it.

Output is very close, both printers have a gloss optimizer (the P600 doesn't).

I see. I'm just worried about the print head clogging in Epson that is why I prefer canon. But I'm relieved to hear that. Thank you!
