I used my self-tapping drill bits today and was very pleased with how easy they are to use!

So, I purchased a kit of metric "screws" / nuts and bolts:
I got a box of these screws too, but am still waiting on my self-tapping bits to arrive from AliExpress, I may have a long wait.. 😷

My brother received some phone batteries from China and was concerned about the Kung Flu. He took the envelope to work and while wearing a respirator and gloves opened the package and then used alcohol to clean things in their spray painting room with its own ventilation. Batteries work well and he's not sick... yet.

While the science of this novel coronavirus is not yet completely understood, other coronaviruses can last up to 48 hours on surfaces. Given the transit time from China was many days, my brother was more likely to be infected from recent contact by an infected person in the US with the outside of the envelope than the insides of the envelope which hadn't been touched or exposed for days.

Wash your hands frequently, avoid sick people, and don't eat the Kung Pow Cave Chicken (bat)

I have received two packages from China in the past week and a note inside said the contents were disinfected before wrapping, I’m not afraid of any Ghosts…

Don’t blow this thing out of all proportion, it’s only the Feckin flu… I'm just glad to receive the package..

Was the wrapping and note disinfected?

Yes and no. Maybe, maybe not. The world does not know enough about it yet to say otherwise. What makes the Covid-19 different so far as is known is it's mechanism of infectivity - more like Ebola and HIV cellular attachment / infective mechanism (but NOT effects on the body! obviously), and you can get reinfected and then may be more likely to die, especially if you received certain medication during your first episodes. Then there is the notion that you may be infective to others while you are asymptomatic for 2 weeks before showing symptoms -- that's a lot more than the couple of days of asymptomatic infectivity of "regular" flu. Like other "flu", respiratory droplets spread the virus, so, typical preventive measures a person should take are similar, like had washing.

One current IV antiviral medication has been mentioned as helpful if hospitalized. I hope that its manufacturing is not dependent on anything we rely on China for providing, as many businesses have been closed. Supposedly, ~150 medications in the US rely on substrate from China. (not to mention certain rare earth metals/minerals the world's electronics rely on)

So it is a big feckin' deal if China, a major supplier of raw supplies and manufactured goods to the world, shuts down because of "only the Feckin' flu".

Other than this, I agree with you.

To keep things in perspective... the "regular" flu has infected and killed many more people this season already. However, the Kung Flu is just beginning. The "regular" flu in the USA for last season had a mortality rate of ~0.1%. Your country may vary. The novel Covid-19 is said to have a mortality rate of 1.5 - 2.5 % depending on the source. At this time the reporting out of China should be taken with a grain of salt, ie not accurate.
