My Pro-1 is printing like a dream now after been stood for a few years, now I'm learning how to print i hope.

Problem or not, i develop my pics in Lightroom and have been having a go at printing in lightroom after i have developed my pic so it is seamless.

observation doing test prints on my mac, and on my PC, i predominately use macs but have a pc for certain software, i have noticed that the exact same pictures printed from my pc using the printer driver are a lot more vibrant than those out of Lightroom on my mac ??

ive also noticed that there are a lot more switches and settings on the pc than the mac, also I'm finding it nearly impossible to print borderless in Lightroom on my mac.

Is it possible to be able to set the Mac up to the same quality has the PC, it is a bit of a ball ache swapping photos to the pc from the mac.

Why the difference from PC to Mac.

Thanks Andy

I have stopped using my Mac for work and it like me has retired, but the one thing I can tell you is that Mac’s are a different breed when it comes to printing, I could get my Mac and PC to print the same but then I knew both systems from the many years I worked on them.

My go to photo printing was always done within Photoshop and my graphical work was done within Illustrator on the Mac, but you either have to be a Mac user or a PC user, if your unfamiliar with printing, the print system on a Mac has not changed in years.

I don’t use Light room and never will because I just don't liked what that App. can do to a photo, it can make a rubbish photo into a masterpiece in my opinion. (Edited.)

I can’t give you any advice with your photo editing, but “Keith Cooper” said…. Learn to get entirely predictable, consistent quality results from known test image, using basic OEM papers.. http://www.digitaldog.net/files/2014PrinterTestFileFlat.tif.zip

As for borderless prints, I never do them because the ink splashes all over the inside of the printer and you then have to clean it up later, to print borderless you must use a certain paper size allocated by the printer driver, otherwise it won’t print…
P.S. Everybody must be using PC's..

Sorry for questioning you again, can you just elaborate on your 3rd sentence: ie
I just liked what that App. can do to a photo

thanks

Well, not sure why you think LR is worse than PS...PS is a DESTRUCTIVE process...if you screw up there your picture is toast, LR creates a sidecar file that is kept with your picture.. As for the color/gamut differences between the two platforms; are BOTH the MAC and PC display's calibrated to the same settings? Are you using the same paper profiles? Mind you, you need to have either the application OR the printer driver managing the color output...not both. I use Lightroom's proofing feature with the correct paper profile loaded, and disable ALL color management in the printer driver. Two VERY good books for color management are "The Digital Print" by Jeff Schewe and "Real World Color Management" by Bruce Fraser, et. al.

PS is a DESTRUCTIVE process
It has been a while since I've used PhotoShop, but it can be absolutely NON-destructive to the original file.

Please see the table at the bottom of the article:
Your link corroborates what I said:

It is possible to use Photoshop in such a way that it is non-destructive, but this requires that you have a little more knowledge of Photoshop and know how to take advantage of layers.
Layers were my friend when I used PS. :hugs It is not difficult and you will have peace of mind that you can revert back to earlier steps, all without altering the original image. Also, using layers opens up many possibilities with PS.

Bottom line, use whatever you like. Both PS and LR can be non-destructive.
