    MG 5420 software

I can't get my 5420 to print true grayscale. It has almost a sepia cast. I'm printing using Easy photo print EX, canon ink and glossy paper on standard photo printing. Easy Photo and Image Garden seem to lack links to the printer for preferences.

    best photo printer

What is the best Canon photo printer? I have the Pixma mg5420 and have never been satisfied with it. I did try a search for this information but didn't see anything that applied. I don't want a pro type printer, just one that will give me as good prints that I used to get with my old i860.

    Print clarity and quality

I have never been satisfied with the quality of photo prints from my relatively new Canon MG5420. The prints lack depth and sharpness. I have used the printer very little (I'm just now replacing first empty cartridges) I use Canon inks. I previously had an i860 that made excellent prints...

    Canon Mg5400 Color Management

I'm having difficulty getting the printer output to match what appears on my monitor. I had an i860 that sadly bit the dust. I loved the output from it. This printer lacks clarity in that it is dull and dark. I'm not sure what changes to make to get an acceptable print.

    canon i860 cyan problem

I just did a nozzle check. The cyan seems to have a problem. Last week it was fine. The print head is new, used only a few times.

    i860 printhead problem (I think)

Thanks to knowledgeable people here I managed to clear a serious clog in the pigment channel of my i860. It was great to have it printing well again. Unfortunately, when I went to do a nozzle check today, I got the 5 flashing orange lights signal. I had printed last week with no problems...

Another i860, another problem with clogs

I gave up on my other i860 for the time being. I had another that I thought I'd give a try at unclogging. Its main problem had been the pigment black clogging. I tried soaking, warm water, alcohol, air, nothing I've done has made an appreciable difference. I soaked all night and day. I was...

    i860 not printing cyan

I just unclogged the purge unit. Everything seemed fine when I printed a nozzle check, except the cyan looked a little streaky. The more I've cleaned, checked, printed, the worse it got. I put in a new tank. With cleaning I could get a little blue but then it would run out. A regular print...

    ip4500 problems again, electrical?

I recently managed to acquire a power adapter for my 4500. Previously, the printer had started to work, then shut down. My friend checked the circuit board in the power adapter and said it was not getting voltage where it needed it. I just installed the new(used)power adapter. To my great...

    i4500 dismantling

My 4500's power adapter decided to quit working and it looks like a while, if at all, that I can get another. In the meantime I'd like to get at the head and carts to seal them up and try to keep them from becoming unusable, but I don't have a clue where to start.

    1860 pigment black not printing

The pigment black won't print. I thought maybe something was wrong in the electronics because I was pretty sure it wasn't clogged enough to not print at all. I put in a new Canon cart - I have been using refill canons with Precision Inks - in hopes that might start it up, but nothing. I did...

Pixma 4500 AC power adapter module

My 4500 stopped running. A friend checked it for me and said that the adapter module circuit board had a fault somewhere in it. I think I need the entire module but the only place I can find it is on ebay for $70. I might pay that if I have to but I would sure like to find it cheaper. Anyone...

    ip4500 pale printing

I recently purchased a used Canon ip4500. It has started printing very pale. The carts appear to still have ink and I don't get a low ink notification. The ink is Canon. I'm not familiar enough with this printer to know what the problem might be. Nozzle check attached.

    Refill

Thanks to all of you here, I refilled carts for my i860 today. I made a bit of a mess when I had problems with the black cart, but all in all, a very successful venture. I ordered ink from Precision Ink, used the enclosed directions, and voila! Without everyone's stories about refilling I...

    i860 woes

I just received an i860 Canon from a seller. I can't get it recognized by my computer. I've installed the software that came with it, though I thought it should have worked on my other i860 software. I've also used the printer cord that came with it. The printer comes on but my computer says...

    i860 wit's end

I'm sooo frustrated. My Canon i860 used to be a super printer. I used some third party inks. Maybe that ruined it. I finally couldn't get it to show clean nozzles no matter what I did. I blew it out with compressed air, I used alcohol, I used a bit of warm water. I had gone back to Canon inks...

    Canoni860 paper feeder problem

My Canon i860 has developed a new quirk. It tells me that it's out of paper when there's paper loaded. If I push it will say paper is jammed. If I push enough the paper will go partially in, back partially out, do that once or twice then start printing. I don't recall it having problems the...

    Canon i860 marks on prints

I beg your pardon if this question has been addressed. My i860 had a leaking cartidge, now I have a series of marks on prints that appear to be coming from a roller. They are small dots and dashes evenly spaced down the page in a particular area. They start a bit down from the top of the print...

    Canon i860 color adjustments

I've been using Injet Grabber inks and they're fine except too much blue in gray shades. I've tried adjusting color in the driver software, but no matter what I do, I can't see that it's making a difference. The adjustment picture in the software shows major changes but none seem to show in the...
