Printer Model
XP15000ET15000XP7100G3260clp31
I’m starting a project to try and convert a xp7100 5 cmy+photoblack+(2x)black into a modified black and white photo printer using only black pigmented ink varations by,
Adding6 external tanks (
Check valves
Inline filters
2mm Id ink tubes
Xp600 pnc manifold adapters
6 ink dampers
And fill with
Matte black pigmented ink
Photo black pigmented ink
Light black pigmented ink
Light light black pigmented ink
And I was planning to use a grey pigmented ink
and use rip software to control and remaping
The goal is to get true neutral greyscale mid tones with perfect greyscale gradients for black and white photo printing with good density and clarity using pigmented inks to be printed onto inkjet printable clear film
Just thought I’d post it and see if anyone in this forum has and comments , advice, tips , thoughts , alternatives or suggestions on this conversion to get the result I want by using this printer , I know there’s better other choices available that’s not the question I’m asking , any thing I should do differently, or add for the build?
Software/rip suggestions /advice ?
And thoughts on the inksets?
The manifold snd printhead does have 6 input nozzles, but the oem black cartridge for black is a double wide cartridges that covers 2 inlets so it’s a 5 color not 6 color printer by design, so that’s why I list 5 inks,
If anyone has any better ink options, or if they have any better suggestions for the “grey pigmented ink” considering already using light black and light light black, or if anyone has figured out a way to use the dual black inlets as seperate channel inlets and make it a 6 color printer if love to hear it, thank you,
