I have been refilling with Hobbicolors for 2 yrs and totally for 15 yrs. This was a dumb one.
I put black ink into the pigment tank.. Emptied the ink & replaced into the MP530 but haven't printed. Will I be ok refilling with pgmt ink or is a new cartridge recommended?
Thanks, D.

If you want to be really safe, you can drain the sponge side of the cartridge using this technique and then refill. Lots of people dilute their pigment black ink with dye black so it shoud be safe even if you don't drain the sponge first, but I would drain it first.

I am using dye instead of pigment ink in three of my printers at present with no ill effects whatsoever.
But when I change back to pigment ink use only, I will follow ghwellsjrs suggestion and clean out the cartridge and start afresh.. :)

I assume from what you say it's OK to use dye ink in both black carts in an MP640?

I don't need to print photos on the 640.

Tks

The answer is yes, but be warned the quality of your printed text is about 10% less.. :|

In that case then it's probably better to buy a bottle of pigment black ;)

Remember HC pigment is for text and it is waterproof if you just want to print photos you could leave it there, I think the drain will do the job.

Epson, Canon, HP... A "few"
As noted already, you should be fine with dye in place of pigment... It's the other way round (or after you've used dye in a pigment cartridge) that purging becomes a very good idea.
