Hi,

My sons netbook is on Windows 7 starter Edition

His Epson D68 basic printer worked fine on his XP laptop but with Windows 7
the status monitor wont show ink levels..!

Have checked that (disable ink levels) is unchecked in properties
and search everywhere I could including Epson site for answers but...NOTHING !!!

I have even tried the utility at h**p://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

That wont work properly , keeps crashing the OS..!

I use Windows 7 64bit Pro on my PC and the status monitor works with my RX585
so I know it will work with Windows 7 in general...

Any help would be VERY much appreciated..

Thanks everyone..:) :)

did you try reinstalling the drivers ? or maybe try the latest driver for win 7

I cannot think of any thing else but it's definitly a driver problem and not a windows 7 issue

Yeah SpideRMaN,

I reinstalled from the disc and then the latest from Epson..

Nothing worked so far man.

I build pc's and install all OS's but never come across a prob like this before..

My son has to print to my printer wirelessly for now.

But needs his printer for Schoolwork.

Thabks for the advice tho man.

Respect :)

1. You don't say if you have tried attaching the D68 to your Win7 x64 PC. Would be worth testing.

2. If it does work on Win7 x64 Pro, make sure it isn't because it is running in XP compatibility mode (not available on the Netbook).

3. Are you sure you installed Windows 7 32-bit drivers on the Netbook. The printer is listed on Epson UK ... http://www.epson.co.uk/Support ... but I couldn't find any Windows 7 drivers for it. (Just for interest, it's not listed at all on the Epson US site). Even if you found drivers from another source, this suggests to me that Epson no longer fully support this printer.
