As the title says, where can I buy a QY6-0061 print head that is 100% genuine canon in the USA? The canon parts desk said I can't buy it from them since it is already discontinued.

Some authorized Canon repair shops may still have them in stock.

Thanks for the link. Do you think the ones from eBay are legit 100% Canon authentic? Have you tried using them? I live in the Philippines actually and the ones from eBay are the cheapest one but I don't want counterfeit products. I bought an ip4200 print head before from eee-expert in eBay and it seemed to be sealed and brand new but I'm not sure because my ip4200 printer back then was acting up really bad and don't know if it destroyed that print head or something.

Try here:

http://www.inkjetprinthead.com/products_search.php?search_string=QY6-0061+&search=+Go+

His site shows: Discontinued by Canon; but still available.

I just bought an i9900 print head from him.
Ah yeah, I saw that site earlier too although the one he sells really costs an arm and leg. I wonder if the ones he got are the same with the ebay items?

I have not heard of counterfeit print heads for your printer. The "refurbished" print heads appear to be out of China. As far as I know, Canon does not refurbish print heads. The packaging on these "refurbished" units appears similar to that used by Canon.

There are no guarantees that you will get an OEM print head from anyone nowadays given the well made up refurbished packaging as people can be greedy. You can try contacting Canon and obtain the telephone numbers of the authorized service shops in your area/country and then call them about a new print head. Not that they will sell to you or even have stock on hand, but it is another option for you to keep things more local in case there is an issue.

Anyone know if Canon used blue colored alphanumerics and symbols on their plastic pouch the print head is sealed in? All mine are black. It looks like this is the packaging for refurbished print heads but some of these Chinese sellers use the blue colored ones for "OEM" print heads as well.

Example: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Good...non-iP5200-MP800-MP830-iP4300/1310369551.html

US$45 for both an OEM and a refurb, plus there is a $5 off coupon offered by the website, is a little hard to believe. No feedback on the seller either.

The same seller also lists what appears to be the same two items but has the word "new" instead of "refurbished" in the title and the price is ~$9 more.

AliExpress website does offer buyer protection. Also, using a credit card offers protection as well, at least here in the States.

As always, Caveat Emptor.
