Hi all,
My dad purchased a CM1312MFP and before long it mangled all print-outs - lots of large bandings and text are practically unreadable. Apparently, he has tried to fix the printer, replaced a few parts (don't know what), followed the troubleshooting guide which didn't have the issue he had. He then gave up and gave me the printer which I've put in a pile for a few years. Now I need a colour laser printer, and I'd like to try and fix this before giving up on this and throwing it in the tip. I haven't tried to figure out the problem until now, only seeing the poor print-outs until now. The printer has done 3357 pages since new

I've attached a few photos showing the issue, but I found it most interesting that with the checkerboard pattern test page that the cyan and yellow boxes are perfectly formed while the magenta and black boxes are malformed. I'm not 100% sure exactly how this printer works, whether it has 1 drum or 4, but it seems that the drum (if one) and fuser is fine, and my suspicion is that it's two faulty toner cartridges (magenta and black) causing the problem and replacing them would fix it. The yellow cartridge is the only OEM cartridge that came with the printer from the factory, the other 3 are compatible cartridges.

Is my interpretation correct and I should try replacing the magenta and black cartridges, or is it a different issue entirely? Many thanks!
