can anyone confirm or deny that if the canon MP830 ink pads were never changed out, that the ink level would:

1. rise to the point of damaging the electronics

2. leak out before reaching/damaging the electronics

guess if i had a non-working MP830 i could take apart and pour in water to find out. anyone ? anyone ??

I don't know about the MP830 but I can say that I ran my MP760 past a waste ink full warning and the ink started leaking out the bottom and it continued to work. Hopefully Canon designed all their printers with this in mind.

I can't be 100% sure that this was related to a Canon printer but it's something to bear in mind...

I've heard of the waste tubes backing up so that the parking/cleaning pad area gets soaked with ink that then promotes a lot of clogging and potentially blowing the printhead.

My guess is that's probably not a major factor but I'd try not to find out the hard way ;)
