My 18 month Epson 1400 dye printer is now printing red lines as well as image :(
I have tryed soaking with windex under head and filling carts with cleaning fluid and purging to clear.. Then a soaked windex paper towel underneath head for a few hours and run clean cycle several times..

Is it worth sending off to have checked???
If it printed 300 pages I would be suprised...

Plan Two
Buy a replacement, Epson has gave me a code for 15% off some of the printer they sell
I am looking at the R2880 K3 ink after $200 rebates $480
They also have a R1900 after rebat $268
Last is another 1400 witch scares me $175

I was also looking at the
Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II or the Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II

I dont print a lot but liked having the larger format option..

Any help appreciated............

PS they have Pro 4000s for $600 refurbished in clearance but this is way way to big for me...

I don't know where you are located, but it is usually possible to pick up a new Canon Pro 9000 MKII for about $200. These printers are sometimes offered for free as part of a package when buying a new Canon DSLR, so many people just sell them for whatever they can get. My local craigslist currently has two of them listed at $200. B&H has them listed for $299 (after rebate). With a chip resetter, their CLI-8 carts are easy to refill.

Wow those prices are something to behold. :)
I paid $850 for my pro 9500 MK II and didnt get any discount at all from Canon for my dead i9950.
At those prices I most certainly would have bought two.
I am not printing much on it at the moment, maybe once a month and it doesnt suffer from clogged head even dough I am using 3rd party inks in it. :)
