I'm new to the Canon world of printing b/w. I've been using 6 cartridges, 5 variations of Eboni black, and 1 toner. Today I printed an iron truss bridge (lots of black and dark rusty red!) with my new Canon Pixma iP8720 using EZink. I was quite happy with the results except for the tone of the black containing a rather pronounced tint of blue.

I did notice a possible fix: there's a feature in the software that looks like it can be checked in the color option:
color/Intensity Manual Adjustment
I don't know what to call this software, it seems to be accessible via many apps - maybe it comes with Win 10. Can I use this software to "warm up" my blacks? I did try it, results were not stunning, but wasn't sure how to use it. Or maybe readers have other favorite recipes. In darkroom days my favorite black was a warm black by Agfa.

I should add that my EZink came in its own carts. At first I was using the carts and ink supplied with the printer. Are those inks compatible? Or maybe I should have let the pre-installed ink run dry. Although that's not recommended.

Thanks all!

I think the software is part of the printer driver. Canon printer drivers have a such adjustment ability. See this thread for more info.

Thanks much, PeterBJ, looks like I'm on a similar track. How affirming to see the same page from the driver I was looking at. And your link was right on... maybe I should move my question over there (no offense here!). BTW, I agree, that the "software is part of the printer driver".

I may not be able to do much today, domestic concerns, you know! I said my problem has a blue-ish cast, perhaps I should say cyan-ish.

On another note, I was wrong thinking my new cartridges might interfere with the ink that came with the printer. Of course - I had to pull the installed ink carts so of course how could that interfere with the new carts!

PS: In that link there's mention of Image Specialists. This is amazing, aren't they related to inksupply.com?! Are they back in business? They hit some hard times some years ago. That was where I got my feet wet in digital printing, with a $99 Epson printer and a single cartridge setup. We were still able to find them to be a source for Eboni black.

Many of us hoped, wished, they would resurrect. Looks to be the case... am I correct?
