Found this on a Canon iP4200 I was replacing the printhead in and thought I'd share as it weirded me out a little until I realised what it was

Turns out there was some gunk had gotten on to the little plastic strips with lots of black striations on it, which, I'm reasonably certain the printer uses as a guide to printhead location, etc...
Cleaned that off and it worked a whole lot better
