Was browsing another photography website earlier today when I came across this post which I think is of interest to readers on this site:

and reads:
Years ago, at the major trade publication where I was director of the product-testing labs, we did a round-up review of nearly two dozen desktop inkjet
printers. A marketing executive from one of the major printer companies stopped by the lab to offer his input. We got to talking about ink prices...
His comment to me, and here it is verbatim: "See that inkjet printer over there? That's not really a printer at all. It's an ink vending machine."
That really says all you need to know about how the printer manufacturers see it.
