Happy Holidays everyone,
My Christmas tree is decorated with picture frame style ornaments. I've been adding a few each year for the last fifteen years. One day I'll give them to my son and his future family. My concern is whether or not the images will still be distinguishable. Some of the old ones are good old Kodak prints and the more recent are inkjet dye base on glossy paper. All are covered with a thin piece of plastic.
Any suggestions on possible ways to extend the life of these images is appreciated.

I always thought the best way to archive images is digitally, say in each picture frame you include a micro sd card with the picture in it. You can get them for as low as $1-2 and you have the added benefit of including even more pictures or even video with each card.

But for physical storage, clear coating with automotive clear coat is one surefire way I know of to extend the life as these put a completely gas and waterproof coating on top of the picture.
