Serious question: How would you mail the encoder strip from an Epson Artisan 1430 printer?

The title says it all. I've saved a couple encoder strips and sold my first one. I have to ship it but I can't think of an affordable way to mail the 1/4"x20" strip safely. Has anyone mailed an encoder strip without breaking the bank? It's a pretty fragile part of the printer that needs to stay clean. Any input would be appreciated.

That’s actually a good idea. I was trying to think of ways to safely roll it up without damaging it. I was going to put it in a box made to ship records and so a big coil around.

What I ended up doing was the most tedious and weird packaging that I’ve probably ever done. The shipping came out to .10c less than the cost of the item. I just chalked it up as a funny experience. Next time I will use your method.

I have also sent a timing strip for a Canon A4 printer. I rolled it up into a loop in a small plastic box and put the plastic box in a padded envelope. The strip was not damaged in the mail.
