I have used this to print family photos on A4, 10x15 and 13x18. paper with satisfactory results. It has developed a fault with the message to contact Canon. I'm told that it would be uneconomical to repair so am looking for a similar replacement, preferably with the same 9600dpi resolution

The nearest I can find is the Pixmar TS 6350, currently £99,99 at Argos and Currys. Resolution is only 4800dpi and it is multi function - I only need the printer.

Are there any other makes that provide a better alternative?

My Epson SC-P800 printing at only 2880 dpi is remarkedly better than my Canon IP-7250 printing at 9600 dpi. DPI says nothing. Most importantly is the printer should have at least 5 ink cartridges (including photo black) and even better having a grey ink cartridge.
