Have a friend whose i850 died and he would like to replace it. He has alotofthings bulk ink supply for the bci-6 and 3e cartridges but I see the ip4200 uses bci-8 cartridges. I assume the ink formulations are not the same, correct?
The BCI-7/8 inks are different from the BCI-6 inks. The Bk, M, PM, PC and, R color inks were changed. The C, G and Y colors remained the same. See www.image-specialists.com/desktop.htm
A user on steve's forum used bci-6e bulk ink in his 4200 and it was slighty different looking but nothing to dramatic. The cli-8 carts can also fit the IP4000.
The only bad thing about the 4200 is the evel chip which turns off the measuring tool.
KnightCrawler, you mean that these new ink tanks don't come with prisms for optical ink level recognition? They only rely on smart-chips for remaining ink evaluation?
