Hi,

I always refill my HP 15 black carts with head fill. So far no problem at all.
Easy and simple...always work since after i buy a tool to fill from the head.
But recently, when i print black color on top of the 3 main color (CMY), or i can say i highlight my text, the black text color look bad.

I dun know how to explain it...but i have add a link of my picture to let u see....anyone have the same experance please give some advise.

Thanks

btw, when just print color pictures or just black text on normal white paper it is good. Just only if i highlight it, like the picture i show above.

I print on normal photostate paper A4 80g.

Thanks

Hi dashisiong,

Thank for the link.

I see what you mean, the black bleeds into the colour.

I have refilled several thousand of these cartridges.

A few questions:

What type of ink do your use, pigment or dye?
Who makes the ink?
How do you refill, first clean the cartridge then refill?
Is the colour OEM?
What type of paper are you using?

Hi Hendo,

Thanks for fast reply.
Now let me answer your question.

What type of ink do your use, pigment or dye?

For black, i am using pigement ink, for color it is dye.

Who makes the ink?

I am not sure who make the ink, i get from my local dealer and he have take out the sticker and put his company name on it.

How do you refill, first clean the cartridge then refill?

Usually, i just suck out all old ink and fill with new ink. Of course before i fill or prime, i will steam the head for a while (10 sec).

Is the colour OEM?

No, color is from the same supplier who sell me the black ink.

What type of paper are you using?

Normal A4 photostate paper. 80g.

For your information, when i just print black, the print out is quite good. Also when i print normal pictures, the color is good too. (If u want, i can sent u more pictures to show u just black words or pictures with colors)
Only when i highlight black words with other color (CMY).

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Hi dashisiong,

The way you refill the cartridge is fine.

From the image you provided, the amount the black bleed into the colour is significant and would not pass QC at my shop.

You shoud not clean the inside of the HP 45 & 78 cartridge unless you have the equipment to remove all the cleaning solution from inside the cartridge.

I am going to assume that you do not clean the inside of the colour cartridge as well.

There are several reasons you are experiencing this problem.

1) The ink is not really pigment ink. It maybe dye or dye pigment mix.

2) The black ink is not drying fast enough to stop the spread into the colour.

3) The ink is stale and/or not mixed before packaging or refilling.

4) The ink is of an inferior grade.

5) The ink is watered down.

I would show your Local Area Remanufacture (LAR) the problem your having, he/she maybe able to suggest a solution. If not you may want to switch to a more reputable ink dealer or LAR. Quality aftermarket inks print quality is comparable to the OEM in regardes to cross bleeding.
