Thank you all for your replies. I think as long as my #1 pro 100 is working I'm not going to buy a print head for my spare.

The waste ink counter is the only built-in life limiting feature.
As far as I know it isn't confirmed yet on this forum, but most probably the waste ink counter of the PRO-100 can be reset with a hack of service tool ST5204.
You will need to derive the ink purge tubes to an external recipient aka printer potty, but you are ready to go again.

According to José Rodriguez (@jtoolman ) he has printed 30.000 pages without reaching a full WIC.

According to the scarce information available at present, it's quite probable that the Pro-200 and the Pro-100 use the same printhead, as it seems to be the case with the combo Pro-10/Pro-300. If so, no need to worry about Pro-100 printheads right now. They will be available at least until 2025 or, if @websnail is right, for 2 years after the Pro-200 is retired by Canon.

Not so quick folks we are extending an assumption that the Pro-100 printhead is the same as the coming Pro-200 based on what transpired on the Pro-10 and Pro-300.

If you inspect the currently written specs closely the minimum droplet size for the Pro-100 is 3pl. It is 4 pl for the Pro-200.

The delivery of my Pro-200 has been delayed till Dec 24th. So until then I am unable to confirm the reality. Until then we should ASSUME based on the currently written specs that the printhead is DIFFERENT.

Jose has not printed 30,000 pages on his Pro-100. What he is stating is what a commercial user of several dozen Pro-100 experienced. Typically the waste ink pad runs out at around 30,000 pages. This is based on refilling at low and replacing a complete set at each lid opening. That if you care to calculate it is approximately 29 feet of stacked photo paper! The paper transport still chugs along nicely. Overbuilt is what the Pro-100 was.
