Printer Recommendation

I need to replace a Canon ip5000 that I've used for printing on dvds and would like to use non OEM catridges but since I haven't brought a printer for a few years I need some help. My needs:

1. Need to be able to print on dvds... can you still modify Canon printers to do this and if so will I need to buy a different CD tray? Would an ip4820 be what I want?

2. Any reason to look at Epson printers?

3. I'm not interested in refilling my own cartridges so I would like to use 3rd party carts from someone like InkGrabber will this be an issue with newer printers?

2. My guess is that you are located in the US. AFAIK Epson printers with CD printing are available in the US. So that is a reason to look at them.

3. Many forum members have had sad experiences with 3rd party cartridges clogging Canon print heads. Using new or refilled OEM cartridges is what most members recommend, I think.

Peter is right. Aftermarket carts often don't feed ink as well and you can end up damaging a printhead. OEM carts have the best engineering, and selecting a good ink for refilling gives you additional assurance that your printhead will give the longest service.

Yes I'm in US.

I'm really not interested in refilling cartridges myself only in using 3rd party carts.

I really don't know a lot about the quality of Epson printers but I've had good luck with Canons.

This Epson Artisan 50 http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/jsp/Product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&sku=C11CA45201 does print on cds/dvds but has decidedly mixed reviews some say it's great while others think it's junk.

Can you even use 3rd party cartridges with Epsons without clogging print heads that you say the Canons do?
