If too much ink is laid down it will take longer to dry or not dry at all. Black ink on baryta Gloss is an example. I use a wet polymer coating on canvas and heavy areas will bleed if not enough drying time is given.

BTW This is with an ipf8300 OEM Inks and 3rd party papers

Disclosure of the problem was sent by PM. It was not meant to be publicly disclosed. The lab can sue for disclosure. But a certain maker of inks well regarded in this forum and recommended by Hat. has nearly literally killed me in the last 4 times in 6 years. Their level of severe human errors in what is shipped and labelled tells the story. I could have shipped bad inks by the thousands of bottles had we not noticed a slight discrepancy. But the labelling of Matte and Photo was incorrectly applied by this ISO approved company. I hardly use any of their inks anymore for a real reason...trust in what is in the container. Inks that had been consistent for over ten years started displaying problems or long term tests. No more of this. This horse has gone bad. I did not mention publicly/

Norbert disclosed that he tested the inks and his inks are fine. He also indicated that he is also using the Matte Black ink trick In PhotoBlack cartridges and that is possibly the reason for the ruboff. He might have mixed up his tanks or something, Black ink is used in small quaitites during most prints. However it takes more than a swap or one head cleaning to remove all traces of the incorrect ink when a swap is performed. For this reason and print IQ I indicate that while I provide details of the trick, my preference is to use the Fine Art Paper setting and be done with it for this and IQ reasons. Epson ink switches use a LOT of black ink for this reason as well.

His tested his bulk ink bottles , he indicates are OK.

But I cannot indicate who the company is.

I would appreciate removal of the named company. But for the record, I did not disclose the name to the public.

@mikling, The Hat has only recommended inks that he has used and is happy with their quality, consistency and colours, including PC inks, now if some ink supplier have let their quality control standards slip, as you have indicated, then please bring this suppliers name to our attention, because you owe that to this forum..

We don’t like recommending anything to any of our members that will cause problems or damage to their printers, this is the foundation of this forum, good help and advice at all times..

P.S. if I knew these allegations were true, I’d be their first critic, and highlight their failings..(Excluding longevity)..

The more I know about refilling the more I understand how delicate it is to report issues with inks on public fora.

While on this forum serious attempts are made to analyse the problem, on others (as a well known Amazon owned photo gear review site) such a post attires even more negative comments.
Happy enough this forum isn't closely linked to advertisers.

I remember posting negative experiences too (confirmed by an authority on this forum) about pigment ink experiments of a - now out of business - German 3th party ink provider. While Precision Colors, Octoink.co.uk and Octopus-office.de always take care of complaints and cooperate in a positive way to solve the issue, this guy never answered a mail.

No refill ink is perfect and buyers should place it into perspective given the price. Accept 8 or 9 of the 10 inks are good and solve the issues with the remaining by an alternative (as serious resellers already do).

And look first in your own soul as we learned in primary school ;).

No one wants you to get jammed up by a non-disclosure you have with someone else. I am not aware of any non-disclosure agreements required of forum members. Recommend you send a private message to forum management for them to become aware of your request to remove text in a post.

Norbert disclosed...
Not that I've seen. Thank you for relaying the issue and the solution.

print IQ
IQ reasons
You may be the only one to use these terms on the forum and only of recent. A Google search comes up with a cloud-based print workflow management system. What do you mean?

Unless mikling expressly asked not to repeat it, or you have a non-disclosure agreement, then you did nothing wrong.

Mikling discussed your issue in detail. Did he have permission from you to do that? Did he need permission from you to do that?

This forum has been about open discussion, dispelling myths, providing good advice, experimentation, discovery and problem solving.

Much of the above is very difficult if not impossible if open discussion is chilled without proper reason. This forum has been one of the premier if not the premier forum on printing for the home consumer precisely because of open discussion.

Your posts added to the knowledge base of the forum for which I am grateful.

Thank you.
