Hello!

I have a problem with my less than a year old Canon Pixma MP240 printer and I heard that tihis is the place to ask when it comes to problems :)
I use the refill cartridges, but I don't do it myself, i go to a specialised store to do it for me a and it's a lot cheaper than buying a new one. I have been using refilled cartridges since the beginning and never had such a problem before:

Horizontal lines appear on colour pictures, yet they aren't white(colourless), but colours are mixed (sky for exmaple is pink instead of dark blue-> view here: http://www.shrani.si/f/1u/No/3fuY9yAV/img0001.jpg ). I have cleaned and deep-cleaned the nozzles many times and replaced the cartridges with other refilled cartridges (despite them not being empty), but it doesn't make a difference. It even got worse. Now, even the examples (both, colour and black) for print head alignment wouldn't be properly printed-many of them are missing or mixed colours(view: http://www.shrani.si/f/2S/6e/28x9O5h6/img0002.jpg and http://www.shrani.si/f/19/uH/1Fv3c7IA/img0003.jpg ).
I read somewhere in this forum it could be possible that print head melted if printing wasn't cancelled soon enough, since the ink didn't cool the head, but I didn't print any more pictures after that first example i saw was streaked, from than on i only printed the printhead alignment examples. So i dont believe printhead would be ruined...

Thanks

Since this printer is the type that has the print heads built into the cartridges, you can solve your problem simply by buying a new Canon original color cartridge. Your black cartridge is working perfectly.

When you say that you "use the refill cartridges", do you mean that they are regular Canon cartridges that you get refilled somewhere or do you mean that they are compatibles made by someone else? When you get them refilled, do they swap your empty cartridge with a previously refilled one or do you wait while they refill yours?

Cartridges of this type won't last forever, so I think if this is the same color cartridge that you have been using for the past year, it is time for a new one.

My first take on it is that the cyan partially recovers after a rest between printing and suffers from feed issues when printing.
There are a few possibilities.
1. Some kind of universal ink was used, the type that mist be better suited for an Epson thus creating flow issues in these thermal heads that require a "thinner" ink to work properly. Those who look for the cheapest universal ink, take note.

2. The aspect that it recovers dismisses burnt out printhead nozzles. but it could also relate to the state of the sponge as to being refilled how many times. So even if the correct ink was used to refill, it really can only be refilled so many times then either the cartridge is replaced, reconditioned or must need to be replaced due to dead nozzles.

3. Finally, I think it might be best to just get a new cartridge and and renew the cycle. it's the cost of owing these two cartridge printers which are meant for very very low usage.

Yes, they are original Canon cartridges, which i took in a store to refill. And i have to wait 2-3 days, so they can refill the actual ones.

I've thought that this might be the problem, but i eliminated that option, since i have changed the first cartridge that didn't work properly with the other (i cycle two cartridges for each colour, so that i can use the printer while they are refilling) and got the same problem (coincidence i hope :))
Thank you both for replying. This is a real relief for me, because if it was more complicated than this, i would have to take it out on repair, where they probably wouldn't take in account that i still have warranty since i used refill...:D

I will get a new colour cartridge, and than report.
